I agree with this decision provided they are given the enhanced training which it says they will have Also, they have to have undergone 200 hours and have been in post 12 months. Regardless of whether they're specials or paid there will always be some who will not use it as trained or when not necessary, but I think it's a vital piece of kit when used appropriately and in the right situation. I have first hand experience of it being used in a situation that did not warrant it and neither was it safe to deploy, but that's another story. What are your thoughts? |

As long as they have adequate training and are held to the same standards, why shouldn't they?

No, they are not police, if they taser someone it should be common assault.

They have similar responsibilities and uniform as police, so why shouldn't they have similar armaments? A PCSO could have been alive today if she had a taser.

Given the abuse they have to take I think they should be armed with tasers tbh

Oh well, as long as they have done 12 months, and 200 hours patrol then it's fine..
Thays what? 38 minutes a day foot patrol...or nip to the bakers for the sarges donuts as they prefer to call it.. What ever could go wrong.!!! Last edited by Beso; 18-05-2022 at 08:14 AM. |

I don’t think “unpaid vigilante police” should be being legitimised in putting on a uniform and calling themselves The Law because it makes their dick hard at all, full stop. Let alone arming them.
What reason does someone have to do the job of the police unpaid, other than because it gives them a jolly ol’ power trip? Out of the goodness of their hearts? Plenty of better ways to volunteer that don’t involve lording it over the public. Or tasering them ![]() |

The uniform paints a target on their back, espesh with the current wave of ACAB psychos. At the very least they should be given truncheons.

No they should hire more paid, trained police officers if they need them instead of handing out uniforms to people who just fancy having a go at it. PCSO's are one thing as they're intended to be a different type of community policing - if people want to voluntarily help the police, they should do that. The idea of unpaid volunteers being given the authority to use truncheons and tasers is just insane.
