I Love my brick

Almost everyday, sometimes multiple times people who phone where I work will ask for directions to where our business is, they'll tell you where they're coming from and expect you to direct them from there to here and all I want to say is "Can you not just put the eircode into google maps for ****s sake!" obviously I don't say that but really like, it would make everyone's lives so much easier! Anyone on here still NOT use google maps and if not WHY NOT?!

It's infuriating yes I still get stopped in the street and asked for directions. Very annoying.

Yeah, I do have more sympathy for older people but a lot of them aren't older

I don't do this but I don't mind being asked for directions if they're hot, then I'll give them the directions and welcome them to my city.

It's not so bad if you're in the city and they're looking for somewhere in that city or town or whatever but it's the ones that come on the phone and ask me to give them directions from one town to another or a journey that might be 30 minutes plus long

Google maps took me on a great adventure last weekend, took me down roads I never knew existed, saved me 24 minutes of being stuck in traffic

I use Google Maps but to be fair... in more obscure locations it can take you on a wild goose chase sometimes. Down a little road into a forest that becomes more and more overgrown and full of potholes until you suddenly realise "Umm... no one's driven down this road for decades have they" but it's too narrow to turn round and you're getting scared so you end up reversing out at 30mph

It's fun for a while, feels like pioneering but it's when it's getting a bit dark, the satnav is telling you to forge onwards, and then you suddenly encounter a locked gate (that's been locked for so long that the chain is rusty) barring the whole road! The Trees Have Eyes.

...like why would there not be a gate at the start of the road... ... why would you be able to drive a good mile into the trees before getting trapped...

I enjoy helping others, so I often walk about places as though I know what I'm doing ot where I'm going, just on the off chance someone needs my assistance. 2 years driving round london gives me great pleasure in being able to assist people who are lost in the big city.

Saying that though, I did ask someone in London directions to the shard...he pointed upwards, cause I was only standing outside the bloody building.

To be fair the street curves up and round and is longer than it seems, maybe they were looking for one of those houses and got confused. Last edited by Toy Soldier; 20-05-2022 at 11:28 AM. |

Google maps once took me and my sister on a hike up a ****ing mountain and a hour or so walking, to get somewhere that was literally 5 mins round the corner it turns out. I dont trust it. But also dont ask for directions usually because anxiety
