i don't remember any previous world cups being so close going into the 3rd round. It makes a big difference to the entertainment value

The Belgian squad sounds like it is totally divided. Eden Hazard apparently had a massive row with Vertonghan and Lukaku had to separate them. Hazard and Trossard also hate each other and Courtois and De Bruyne have never liked each other

it's what happens when great players get past their prime particularly when they have underachieved throughout their entire international careers. Spain, Italy, germany, france and the netherlands have all suffered similar fate

They won the World Cup and a couple of Euros I think , in fairly recent times

Spain’s lasting problem is they haven’t had a goal scorer since David Villa retired.

There was an all out war in the spain camp a few years ago, there was a player revolt, the manager got sacked something like the day before the tournament as i recall
