Default London Cable Car Opens

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2012/ju...r-opens-thames
Video on here

"Britain's first urban cable car has begun ferrying passengers across the Thames after Boris Johnson launched it by declaring that his first trip made him feel like the Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin.
The £60m system was paid for with £36m from the Dubai-owned airline Emirates, giving it naming rights for 10 years, including placing its brand name on the London Underground map. A further £8m came from the European Regeneration and Development Fund, which the London mayor joked was a better use of money than Brussels paying off the Greek debt."

Great ride over the Thames.

It looks great. There are no bridges over that side of London, and as for the Blackwall Tunnel....

Fares are very reasonable actually, although it isn't a long journey.

The Emirates
are to end their Sponsorship
in a few months.

It started BBC1 London news today.

The London Mayor is trying to find another deal?

On LBC AM today
the Mayor said if it does not get a new Sponsorship
deal he thinks it will go to tax payers

The Short Cut
is to now Close
No it is not?

A new "future commercial partner" is expected to be announced later in the summer, TfL's Josh Compton said.

However, until then TfL will have to bear the cost of the cable car as it continues in operation.

you really should read the links you post Arista

Seems someone messed up and didn't renew the contract in time or look for an alternative in good time
