The characters are not real but the actions they portray very much are... murder, drugs, sex, prostitution to name a few. All of which you find okay for kids but you draw the line at drag queens reading a book?

wow

Family guy is a show that is aired after the watershed, it is not aimed at kids, if parents let their kids watch it that it their perogative of course, but it is not a kids show

I'm curious how people would feel if it was Drag Kings going into schools, reading stories? ( Aka women dressing up as butch men ) . I think the problem is even if people are uncomfortable or dislike drag queens & schools being mixed, the media will always make things sound worse than it is .

Ok fine people see it as odd ,but the main concern should be aslong as they're not swearing , telling crude jokes Infront of the kids ,or dressing inappropriately or teaching weird stuff then surely it's not that bad?.

I got the impression they were just telling the children stories? I assume it's still child friendly? With their eccentric behaviour . But I haven't researched this enough.

Also there's so many different types of drag aswell, I sometimes feel they purposely get the most strange ones . And people will assume they're "all like that" .

Males dressed as women are just inherently funny, which is why drag works for comedic effect. Females dressed as men just come off as butch lesbians, which isn't automatically funny.

Actually Drag Kings are getting more recognition now, but I know Drag Queens will always dominate.

I also wonder if it would be better if the Queen's acted out a play with other adults for the kids to see ( again a children's story ) , like a panto type thing . Rather than just sat reading .

I don't think the kids would get bored or distracted then ,which is another thing people are saying.

Believe it or not teachers do still read to kids, so I don't necessarily think boredom or distraction come into it.

If they are reading to KS1 primary kids, they will have no idea of what a Drag Queen is - they will just think its someone dressed up - same as they would if it were someone reading in a dinosaur outfit etc. As long as the Queen's stick to reading the book they are there to read, I don't see how it would be sexualised or inappropriate for the children, they will not (or should not) be aware of the content of a drag act.

Older primary kids will be more aware but they are less likely to be sat being read to.

Fair points about them not knowing what a drag Queen is but they do know what NORMAL looks like and sounds like for that matter ... Also some children freak out at flamin clowns and some of these characters are far more scary looking than a clown .

Incidentally what are the stories like , what are they about ?

If they’re absolutely amazing he could just ‘dress’ normally .. so to speak .

Like I said I think it would be better if it was panto type plays , like acting out these story books. As children especially small children will find it more fun & exciting . Rather than someone just sitting and reading.

Because even when you sit & read for a child ,you have to make it more interesting & you have to act more animated & bubbly to keep their attention & so they'll enjoy it more . Also kids have short attention spans .

It's his own book, it's nothing more than a promotional tour to make him some money.

Slightly off topic, but i remember seeing some stuff about that child drag queen, Desmond is amazing. He was quite clearly drugged, and be interviewed by a convicted murderer. The chat was sometimes very suggestive and predatory at times. Some in jokes between the 2 guys interviewing the kid. He just looked heavily sedated and didn't really know what was going on. It's was very awkward and disturbing to watch.
