Anyone seen this yet? Out now on Netflix.
Has received VERY mixed opinions, polarising reviews (some calling it a masterpiece whilst others are calling it utterly abhorrent). It even has an NC-17 rating (explicit themes and sexual content). It’s based on a book of the same name which is a dramatised, semi-fictionalised biography of Monroe from her youth until her untimely death. I’ll be watching tonight! |

Watched this earlier, i wanted it to be good, and Ana de Armas is very easy on the eye (she truly is stunning), but my god i thought it was utter rubbish. And almost 3 hours run time.
It's a shame, but i couldn't recommend this to anyone. Really, really bad imo.

Okay I watched this last night.
Main thoughts: 1. Far too graphic, unnecessarily so. Doesn't do anything except make you feel "yuck". 2. Why's she topless for 70% of the movie? 3. Beautiful to look at, especially the black and white shots and the red carpet scenes with all of the flashbulbs from the paparazzi cameras etc. 4. I can still hear an overwhelming Spanish twang. 5. Loooooong! I'm kind of "meh" about this which is weird considering how shocking it was to me. "Unnecessary" is the main word that comes to mind. Spoiler: 7/10. (Can definitely see de Armas getting Best Actress for this btw, regardless of the movie's reception). Last edited by LaLaLand; 02-10-2022 at 03:56 AM. |
