Default England World cup squad.

Let's see if we can correctly pick Gareth Southgate's World Cup squad.

Over the next 9 months we can discuss who should be in and who shouldn't.

Obviously things can change in that time. Injuries and player form can change things.

If anyone would like to list all the contenders and outside chances in each position, that would be helpful and appreciated

Goalkeepers

Jordan Pickford
Aaron Ramsdale
Nick Pope
Dean Henderson
Sam Johnstone

I imagine 3 of these will go. 3 is the usual amount of goalkeepers teams take to tournaments.

If you think any other goalkeepers should be on that shortlist then let us know.

Right back

A competitive short list for this position. Usually you'd just likely take two players for this position but because some of them offer versatility and can play in other positions, how many of these should go to the World Cup?

Kyle Walker (possible centre back)
Trent Alexander-Arnold (possible Midfield)
Reece James
Kieran Trippier (possible left back)
Tino Livramento

Left Back

Luke Shaw
Ben Chilwell
Aaron Cresswell
Bukayo Saka (can play many positions)
Tyrick Mitchell

Kieran Trippier is also an option here and depending on fitness Fabian Delph is also an option that brings experience and leadership.

None of them are in form, and Southgate has always said he will only include in form players, so he is going to get hammered in the media

with your i meant england in general

in form players, yet you select Jarrod Bowen, one currently terribly out of form at West Ham

I understand why they have the nations league, it is at least competitive games that mean something rather than simply friendlies, but it all has just become too much, with too many games and it is affecting the domestic season which is the games bread and butter

I am going with the Arsenal link with Ramsdale quick passes up to Saka , the Liverpool link with TAA and Henderson on the right plus Mings / Foden / Grealish links down the left

Ok I am thinking crazy having everyone playing in their normal position .. oh well

RAMSDALE ( OR PICKFORD )

TAA. WHITE. MINGS. CHILWELL

HENDERSON. BELLINGHAM. FODEN

SAKA. KANE GREALISH

He’s not gonna get games unless there is an injury or two to Martinez or Varane

Some sobering stats whilst we recover from the recent maulings

Just heard some stats about Brazil

Only 1 defeat in years and that was against Argentina who are on something like a 45 match unbeaten run ..

Since that one defeat Brazil haven’t lost since .. scoring 43 whilst conceding just 5 goals !

They played Tunisia recently .. Tunisia hadn’t conceded a goal in the previous 7 games but were 4 goals down by halftime .. Brasil eased off in the second half and won 5:1 .

England are some team if they can’t find a starting place for Grealish , Foden , Maddison or TAA ..

The other explanation of course is that Southgate is a complete imbecile

what i've seen from Branthwaite here at PSV, he's a great defender, good header qualities too at corners, free kicks

George Cox, yes controversial name, but i know him pretty well here at Fortuna, and he has proven himself here as a solid left back and consistent starting 11 player, could've made a transfer this summer, but he chose to stay after Flemming already had left

Tom Heaton, controversial yes, but he has some experience and would still make a decent 3rd GK option, i mean look at Pasveer here now for us, 39 yrs old, ex Heracles, PSV, Vitesse now Ajax, and late blossomer as of now into national team as well
