But the main responsibility for this result has to go to the Referee, he gave France's first goal, and to give France credit they're already a great team, so it's not gonna be easy for England anyway, so the Referee keep constantly ****ing England over basically made it impossible for us to win the game.

He honestly shouldn't officiate another World Cup match again.
If Kane equalizes, the result could have been different.

Regardless of the referee.

He deserves the blame imo.

Blaming the referee is clutching at straws a bit. IMO.
In what way is it clutching at straws though?

Didn't he allow France's first goal to stand? Didn't he deny England multiple blatant penalties? Didn't he also allow France to just foul England players for 90 minutes?

I get that people don't want to be sour grapes or whatever, but to say that the Referee had no impact on the result is a tiny bit disingenuous imo.

But if the Referee could spot obvious fouls it's 1-1 (even with Kane's miss) so it goes to extra time.

So the result is the Referee's fault.

I didn't think that was a foul.

There were another obvious two penalty claims that were ignored.
The Kane one looked outside the box, it was marginal though.

The guy who clattered into Mount for the penalty was carrying a booking but wasn’t booked for a deliberate barge - preventing a certain goal .. should have been a straight red but he wasn’t even booked
There were many , many other instances
Mount didn't have control of the ball and it wasn't a clear goal-scoring opportunity, so no red.

The Kane one was more messed up imo because the Referee didn't even acknowledge it as a foul at all.

And the Saka one was 100% a foul.

Tbf you have a point on the Mount one I think.

Maybe not a foul in Aussie Rules but certainly one in football

Surely a second yellow though as it was a definite barge / foul and bad enough to give a penalty

Nobody talking about how Southgate’s absolutely useless strategies cost us dear again ?

Mount and Sterling on with
ELEVEN minutes to go and only after going down 2:1 !!!

Sterling replaces our main ( only ) threat in Saka who was having a field day … don’t think Sterling even had a touch of the ball !!

Rashford came on in the 85th minute !!!

Grealish came on with TWO minutes of extra time remaining …

We equalised in the 54th minute and were on top and that was the time to make 3 or 4 substitutions given our bench was stacked with quality options and they had basically NOBODY to bring on .

He could even have really gone for it and brought on 5 fresh pairs of legs as you get a 6th sub in extra time

Agree to disagree. He is partly to blame, but not entirely or mostly.

Tbf calmly thinking about it, it was both the Referee and Kane's fault.

They both played a massive part in the result.

It looks like I was correct.

I'm gonna be smug for awhile.

But seriously it's up to Argentina to prove me wrong.
