Were you using rhetoric, or do you really think someone in our government was speaking in a way like the Nazis did?

When people say 1930's they usually mean early 1930's, which was really ... err... Nazi foreplay. There was a drip-feeding of blame culture and nudging of mindsets that took place as a warm-up act for full-blown Naziism.

To be fair though the comparison isn't exactly right - the Nazis were secular, I reckon it's evangelical fascism we have incoming. Just as bad and twice as creepy.

So instead of Hitler we have Franco coming?

Funny how the Left have to go to extremes and lies to try to win the argument.

How about coming up with a plan, Gary, instead of saying Sunak is the new Hitler.

Crazy, crazy. And very stupid.

Nope, he doesn't need to come up with a plan. He can criticise all he wants without needing to say anything. And anyone can criticise his words without providing alternatives.

And then anyone can call any of the above stupid

I'd larf if the BBC sacked him. But I don't think they'd have the balls. No pun intended.

I don't want anyone sacked for their views, unless they directly call for violence. I want Linekar to speak more, so we know exactly what he meant.

This is the problem,I can see why people would criticise Sunak. And Starmer is loving this ...but if Starmer was in power how would he come up with a solution.

To be fair, as TV licence payers, we're paying for his obscene salary to present sport, not going around calling us "Nazis" He's obviously in the wrong Job. He needs to concentrate on the job we pay him for.

He can have an opinion. But he needs to find a different career path if that's what he wants to do, nobody is stopping him from doing that. Going around insulting the people that are paying the company he works for isn't a professional move, I'd say it's a sacking offence.

He just is coming off like a middle aged blue and pink haired lefty at a demo with a pre printed socialist worker plaque saying all refugees welcome

I don't really think he is very bright

I'm an advocate of scrapping the TV license completely so that's sort of a moot point for me. It shouldn't exist - a concept that should have been ditched long ago.

This situation where it's like the BBC own who is on it is rather unnerving.

I find Lineker annoying even presenting Match of the Day.
However had he said this ON the programme or on the BBC.
Then the criticism would be justified.

I find his view over the top on the German inclusion section, however the comments of scaremongering and wild figure chanting of Braverman are in my view far worse.
Her view seems greatly unsavoury to me and concerning.

He shouldn't be sacked.
Maybe ITV could buy up Match of the Day from the BBC.
Then like people such as Clarkson , Lineker could say what he liked and even possibly get applauded for it.
No matter how bad the content.

there have been loads of tv presenters, radio presenters, college lecturers etc etc etc that have lost their jobs because of what they said on twitter, the bbc is not unique

Who did for a political comment?

Lineker is also a voter.
He has every right to comment on those elected to parliament and on policies as any other voter.
If he did this on a programme on the BBC fair enough.

He is outspoken.
I don't care for Lineker but I don't really see the fuss about this.
Calling out loads of deceivers and even at times blatant liars regardless of political persuasion should be a service, not stifled.
Because more don't speak out, that's in part where power mad politicians get away with near anything.

irrespective, Lineker has now said he wont be shut up, the only people that can remove him from twitter is twitter, and he will continue to speak out. Also, he is not a BBC employee, he is a freelancer, so we will see how it ends up, but my view is that he will be taken off the BBC. Quite frankly, i wont be watching any more shows he is on. He may not have made the comments on air at the bbc, but everyone knows his attitude now, and it is my freedom to not put up with it

Pointing out nazi-esque rhetoric is not extreme, I'd say that murder and terrorism is pretty extreme but the extreme elements of your side of the aisle have got that covered.

The whole 'Don't criticise the government unless you're in charge of the government' logic is so ****ing sad and bootlicker-y. Anyone can criticise the government, and they should. If you don't like that, I'd recommend moving to North Korea, you'd probably like it there but for the rest of us sane people, we will criticise the government whenever we please, because it's our right to do so.

Except those people you're speaking about have lost their jobs for bigotry and discrimination. You want Gary Linekar fired because he has an opinion on the government that upsets you. Let's just skip to the part where you just admit you hate freedom of speech.

What an absolute load of bull****.

You are happy with the BBC basically being a right wing mouthpiece but you are putting on the amateur dramatics pretending this is about impartiality when the BBC isn't impartial in the first place, it's just partial to your opinions and you don't like opinions that run contrary to that.

Just another person doing mental gymnastics to try to justify that they hate freedom of speech.

Sounds very snowflakey to me, but you do you, if you need a safe space away from being triggered by people who don’t like the actions of the government then that’s your right, I just hope to not see you criticise other people in the future for practicing the same liberties

While I do agree that his remarks were OTT, I do also think that there should be certain scenarios where we do help out Illegal Immigrants.

Did Jo Brand ever apologize over that psychotic comment?
