Default Brazil : Man kills 4 young children using a blade

[Four children have been killed by
a man wielding a hatchet who forced
his way into a kindergarten in the
city of Blumenau in southern Brazil,
local officials say.

The man forced his way into the creche
at around 09:00 local time (12:00 GMT).

A fifth child has reportedly been seriously
injured and is being treated in hospital.

Police told local media that the attacker
had surrendered.
The man is reportedly in police custody.]

[School attacks in Brazil had been uncommon,
but have begun happening with greater frequency
in recent years. Last week, a student in
Sao Paulo stabbed a teacher, killing her,
and also wounded several others in Sao Paulo.

"May God comfort the hearts of all families
in this moment of deep pain,"
Gov. Mello wrote on Twitter.]
