Default Happy Eid Mubarak, TiBB

Resident Islamophobes are more than welcome to give themselves an heart-attack over someone merely daring to congratulate people for completing Ramadan successfully but I respect people who deserve respect irrespective of how much their religious values happen or don’t happen to align with me. Not my axe to grind, not my problem.
So happy Eid Murbarak, Muslims of TiBB (if you exist).

I always did respect religions down in london town.

But I've seen a video of a uber driver of muslim faith, acting very strangely with an unidentified female looking object in the back seat of his cab during Ramadan on some northern ****hole.

So it's sometimes tough sat here in scotland now to appreciate the good guys like I used to.

For me it’s just a case of not tarring everyone with the same brush. Normal Muslims (whether Islam is definitively a religion of peace or not) don’t deserve to be tarred with the same brush as extremists and people like them and I think that’s quite obvious to anyone who has Muslim mates. There’s enough hate in the world as it is. Plus Eid Murbarak’s a low-key vibe. Even if you’re an atheist.

The amount of hate in the world makes me feel physically sick. Honestly, since moving back to Scotland the amount of backward language I'm coming across on a day to day level astonishes me.

I often said to my friends akin and Patrick(whom I've mentioned many times)how much I would love them to visit scotland with me whilst I was down in london, wheeling and a dealing with them. What a mug my home country would have made of me if I ever did.

You are correct redway, the hate in the world is just too much sometimes.

Very funny.

But I do agree with Redway and Parmnion that the last thing this world needs is more hatred.

That's not aimed at you btw UserSince2005, in fact I appreciate a good bit of dark humour.

It does need less hate, sure. You don’t have to attend mosque with your Muslim friends on some Fridays but at least don’t be biased towards them just because you’re scared of their religion. I think acceptance of the Muslim faith (the normal side, not the extremism, obviously) and a little solidarity to Muslims during Ramadan is becoming normalised. Even Waitrose advertise it these days.

B.I.B.: it is, and the social network/circle I cultivate is open to every different faith or custom under the sun so long as there's enough cultural/interests-related convergence for us to really vibe and be friends. I've interacted and lived with Muslims who I didn't particularly vibe with beyond a certain level because there were just too many things about them (presumably based on a mixture of their upbringing and personality) that annoyed me but that was nothing to do with them being Muslim. On the other extreme throwing aside an established friendship that's lasted years just because someone's "turned over to the Islamic side" or defends a religious group which triggers bad memories for you just isn't worth it. If we only interacted with each-other based on only having positive experiences with that particular group/demographic as a conglomerate everyone would hate each-other (including me), because we've probably all had good and bad experiences with people from all these faiths and backgrounds and for different reasons. You don't just cut someone off or start acting funny with them all-of-a-sudden just because their faith doesn't correspond with yours or they don't hate who you hate because of your personal experiences. That's not much different from racism.

I live near several mosques and a Gurudwara, I love seeing people going to Friday prayers in their robes and the Gurudwara does such alot of good for the community.....religion gets a bashing but there are positives as well

Of course, and if you're the sort of person who's up for going to Friday prayers as a mark of solidarity to your Muslim mates (if you have any) and you're not in work/busy that day for whatever reason, there's no reason not to do it if you feel comfortable. Buddhism is something I've always sort of wanted to tap into on a level but I'm yet to actually go to a vihara (temple). I offered to go with one of my flatmates one time and we nearly did but it just sort of fizzled out as people got busier with life. But the point is I'm very open-minded about stuff like that.

I agree.

And like you have said, it's definitely improving, it's just a couple of generations away from people getting out of that mindset of "Muslims = Terrorists" that has plagued the UK mindset in our generation.

The K.K.K. terrorised black people for years and lynch-killed more than 2,000. That doesn’t mean all white people are anti-black extremists. Plus Islamophobia is getting old. Real-old.

Look I'm not a big lover of organized Religion myself personally, but for example January 6th was a terrorist attack, and most of them weren't Muslim as far as I could tell.

And there's the IRA which I think we can all agree were a disgraceful terrorist group that anyone that helped fund it or support it should be deeply a shamed of themselves, but my point being they were Christians that were terrorizing people back then.

Obviously Islam as a Religion definitely has an extremist element to it, and 9/11 being an obvious example, but to claim that they're the only community out there committing Terrorism isn't true imo.

Mafia III had levels around the Southern Union which were basically the K.K.K, and let's just say if the Game depicted them correctly then they make Fox News look like Peppa Pig.

Honestly some twisted ideology imo.

Sadly that is true.

I hope to never get into that mindset that some of these groups fall into.

Thanks.

Tbh I don't see any of you on here becoming extremists either, despite what some people can say on here sometimes, I feel like they'd ever really do anything bad.

And you're definitely someone on here that I can trust Redway, along with Joey and a few others.
