Strictly star Angela Scanlon has been reported to the police after she was filmed dancing out of a window of a moving car.

The One Show host, 39, was sitting in the backseat of a vehicle, without wearing a seatbelt, as she leaned her body out of the rear window for the routine, which was captured by a friend in the passenger seat in front.

The video obtained by MailOnline, was uploaded to her Instagram account before being hastily deleted.

The clip of Angela hanging out of the car is edited with the music of classic hip hop anthem Rapper's Delight.

Angela said: 'I made absolutely the wrong decision when I filmed this video. I was coming from rehearsals and was giddy with excitement.



'That's not an excuse, because what I did was stupid and I'm sorry I let my excitement get the better of my judgement'.

Angela can be heard laughing as she performs the dangerous sequence as the car travels at speed.

MailOnline can reveal the Irish presenter, who is partnered with Carlos Gu for this year's series, was reported to the police on Monday night and is likely to get a ticking off from BBC bosses for her actions.

A source said: 'Angela thought she was having a laugh, playing up to being on Strictly.

'But leaning out of a moving car is incredibly dangerous and she should know better.

'Her place on Strictly won't be at threat but she'll be warned about her behaviour going forward.'

Nick Simmons, CEO of RoadPeace, the national charity for road crash victims, said: 'Every day on the UK's roads, around five people are killed and more than 60 people are seriously injured.

'Driving is a privilege, not a right. With that privilege, comes a great deal of responsibility for safety, but sadly, many road users overlook this important fact.

'It is very disappointing when celebrities, who have a significant influence on others, behave in a way that does not acknowledge the importance of using the roads safely and of the huge risks posed by distracted driving.'

Angela made a promising start on her Strictly debut last Saturday, earning praise from the judges for her Tango routine to Miley Cyrus track, Prisoner.

Anton de Beke said: 'The drama, the intense, the commitment was magnificent.'

And Craig Revel Horwood added that although her arms were 'a tiny bit loose,' Angela's attack moments were 'fantastic'.

Writing on Instagram afterwards, Angela said: 'Week one DONE!!! I've just had a fry up and a very small lie in. My head is reeling & I'm not quite sure what the hell happened.

'What a night. Everyone was incredible. I literally forgot how to speak I was so nervous/stunned, so far out of my comfort zone, so exposed, so ladylike.

'But I loved every second of it & thank you ALL for the messages and comments on our TANGO!!

'When I heard we were doing it I almost vomited but actually I kind of loved being fierce & moody & fiery. Angela shares two young daughters Ruby, five, and Marnie, one, with husband Roy Horgan, whom she married in 2014.

As well as The One Show, which she's hosted since 2015, Angela has also fronted BBC shows Robot Wars and Your Home Made Perfect, and is also regular presenter on Virgin Radio.
