Default Reboot - Week 1 - Pros and cons

Now we are a week into the new reboot, I'm interested in pro's and con's on the return of the show from other fans.

Pros
- I think the production team did a good job in casting.
- Theme tune returned
- Marcus returned
- General UK format we know has been retained
- Live feed is (somewhat) back
- Spin-off show is back

Cons
- Not a fan of the duo hosting. I like AJ and Will, but it's too much as a pair. A few times they've done L&L on their own and the flow works better.
- House size. Well decorated, but massive. The drama seems to be better in tighter living spaces. Also, not a fan of the soundstage approach.
- BB's voice. It's grown on me this week, but if they were going to take the "same voice" approach, they could've taken a page out of early seasons of BBAU.
- The show seems overly PC - like apparently telling the audience they can't boo, or no televised smoking (the best bitching came from the smoking area).
- Not a fan of the background music and montages in highlight episodes. I used to always love that the UK never did this compared to other versions.
- Too many visible cameras - they know when they're being followed or watched. Those same cameras would work just the same behind the mirrors.
- ONE NOMINATION EACH PER WEEK

They need to put the eviction interview on the main show instead of having to turn over onto itv2. People might watch on catch up. Some of the casting was good but overall I've found it disappointing. I like the new house they've done a good job of the layout and I like the size.

Have to say the only con I have is the nomination situation - I would prefer two noms per housemate and at the beginning of the week.

There are stylistic choices (the editing, BB voice) which I’m not used to but I appreciate them trying new things and are rectifying what doesn’t work and quickly too.

I'm ecstatic that we have highlight shows that are entertaining without being draining. This is much, much better than the C5 era

The spin off show is dire. The fact that they are pushing things like interviews and nomination results onto it shows it's struggling.

Live feed is great

I'm thinking that now we're getting into evictions that we'll have evicted housemates on and the flow of it might change a bit. I think the spinoffs have been a bit dire since BBLB finished.

I completely agree. Especially on the presenters. 2 is unnecessary and makes it cheesy.

On the PC aspect, I think it’s more an issue of the channel that picked up BB, rather than a modern world issue. After all the Love Island issues with mental health, they couldn’t have anyone being booed (or the “Get Farida Out” chants) Completely agree it takes a huge part of the serious away though. Real shame. Visible cameras really big mistake, and might explain some of the strange play acting for cameras from some.

I would just add that, on casting, they shouldn’t have done both Matty and Tom. I appreciate they are very different, but they look the same…

I think they're still experimenting a bit, like the echo in the DR was gone in the eviction episode, and I THINK the voice was more monotone?

(But I was cat-sitting for someone last night and their tv speakers are dodgy, so maybe one or both are down to that?)
