Default Tom was a prick last night?

He’s defo going after that episode, I just watched.

I know sometimes yinran crying is a bit ott but she has a kind heart and the way he spoke about her was horrible when they nominated him.

Showing his true colours

He has been a dickhead from the start
He worships paul so if that’s not a big enough indication of his personality I don’t know what is.

Tbf it cant be nice sitting there waiting to be nommed and you know its going to be you, he said say my name and she had already nommed him so I dont see what her issue was, it would be pretty annoying and most people would snap in that environment, he hugged her when she left and was pretty okay actually leaving and in the DR

Thought it was great viewing....very human behaviour

I mean they have all clocked Yinrun in the house but are afraid to nom her for some reason, even Jordan discussed her OTT crying with Trish, but pretended not to have noticed when Tom and Jenkin said she was babied in the house

Toms comment that she 'was jumping for joy' should go down in BB history lol

I get the impression that the secret room will bring the worst out of Tom, Jenkin and Jordan. Would you agree

Tom leaving, will be so satisfying.

He's definitely getting evicted first tonight.

Tom was brilliant in last night's episode. If he survives eviction and confronts 2-faced Olivia and fake Yinrun it could be his winning moment like it was for Helen Wood when she confronted Ashleigh in the garden.

…maybe…because they’re so focused on the housemates and things they say and do while they have their ‘spy’ time …that they’ll be less self aware that we’re watching them, watching them……so yeah, it’ll be quite revealing …but it is for such a short time, though…the main ‘worst’ I think it’ll bring out is face to face nomination reactions directed at those who nominated them…

Tom has always been a prick, he’s gone so under the radar the past 6 weeks it’s beyond, his little digs at Hallie, his bitchiness with the garden crew, he’s been one of the main instigators but has been very clever at hiding behind people. My most disliked housemate this year honestly. I’m glad his true colours are finally coming to light now at least, could not have bared seeing him in the final

I have to agree with you here, Cherie, and it must have been made worse by the fact that there were 3 people on 2 votes - Tom, Olivia and Noky - so that must have seemed a bit unjust for Tom to end up in that position. For me, it would have been fairer if all remaining housemates had to vote again between the 3, rather than just Yinrun and Matty.

I could understand Tom becoming irritated given Yinrun’s response, as it was delaying the inevitable for him, as well as placing Matty in a very difficult and unenviable position. Some of the housemates have mentioned that Yinrun doesn’t always read the room, and makes difficult situations for others all about her due to her extreme emotional reaction, and this was definitely the case last night. I actually felt for both Tom and Matty in that moment, and felt frustrated with Yinrun myself.

I believe in Yinrun, but have begun to question her slightly - Tom said he doesn’t totally buy the innocent and childlike persona, given she has moved from a completely different country and culture, has found employment and is in a successful adult relationship. And I think he has a point - this does suggest Yinrun must have a lot more about her in terms of courage, decisiveness, etc, than we are being led to believe.

Yinrun had already nominated Tom before so when it came to making the decision with Matty, Tom probably felt annoyed Yinrun suddenly couldn't bring herself to say his name again. The crying didn't help because it was Tom going up for eviction, not Yinrun, it was similar to the Jenkin situation from the 'Hunger Games' task.

Yinrun herself readily admitted after the event that she'd left Matty with the 'heavier burden' of having to make the decision. She must have known this also at the time and some could constrew that she's also playing the game and isn't quite as innocent as she makes herself out

It's blown up on her though because Tom for all his faults called her out on it in the moment, questioning why she was crying. If anyone should have been crying, it should have been Tom or Olivia as it was their fate and not Yinrun's on the line

I’m not suggesting I’m a fan of Tom or anything, as he can be short-tempered and bitter, but part of me can’t help but feel there is something we are missing.

We have seen so little of him in the editing of the series, that I don’t believe we truly know him in the way we do other housemates. A lot of what we have been shown of him has been chosen to exaggerate the divide narrative, which all evicted housemates have said was just not there in the way it’s been portrayed.

There’s got to be a much more positive side to Tom which we haven’t been shown, given his friendships with so many decent housemates on the other side of the so-called divide, e.g, Matty, Henry, and given that he has received so few nominations throughout the series. His empathy with Matty last night said something very positive about his character, as did his conversation with Henry in the hot tub.

After the eviction of Paul and Dylan, Tom would have been such an easy nomination if he was truly the character BB has led us to believe, yet it just didn’t happen.

Part of me feels he has been made a scapegoat to fulfil the villain narrative, and I don’t fully believe the hype.

Yes, exactly, Cherie. Almost every post presents the negative about Tom, and I really do believe that’s because he’s had the villain narrative pushed by producers.

In truth, no person in BB (or in life, in fact) is a complete villain - all people are much more complex and multifaceted than that.

It’s become almost like confirmation bias in some ways. And it’s like seeing just a couple of pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, rather than the full picture.

As I said, I am not a massive Tom fan, but I can recognise positive characteristics in him, and to me, it’s only fair to recognise those when judging him.

At the end of the day, he is only 21, so he’s still developing and adjusting as a person, and will learn from experience. When people can forgive and excuse things Trish said when she was 23, because she’s different at 34, I find it hard to grasp why people can’t give Tom just a little grace.

I can’t argue with that argument, Maru! You mean he’s a little irritant!?

I’m only just recognising your sense of humour, and I’m loving it. That’s twice in the last ten minutes you have made me smile. More of this please!
