Default Big Brother house adverts from charity Age UK highlight loneliness at Christmas

Quote:
The Christmas period can be tough when you don't have the friends or family you would like to spend the days with. One ITV advert has touched a nerve with many as it highlights the matter of loneliness among old people.

The ads, which are a collaboration between charity Age UK and ITV's Big Brother, have been screened on the commercial channel to highlight the fact that 2.3 million older people will be lonely this Christmas.

Showing older people in the well-known environs of the Big Brother house, instead of seeing them chatting and messing around as the contestants of the reality show do, viewers see the older people living in silence. And for many of us who have loved ones near this Christmas, it's been an eye-opener.....

@yinrun_hello
This advert is so touching. Loneliness of the elderly is a very important issue, especially at Christmas. I think this fantastic campaign can spread awareness and help people to get the support they need. Please share if you can. Take care everyone ❤️ xx

The older housemates are more often the ones most willing to throw down and have it out with others. The 30+ housemates of the last series were the most conducive to creating tension and conflict, whereas most of the 20-somethings were pretty placid and complacent.
