Default American Idol Season 8 watch thread.

I've been checking out the first few Live Shows of Season 8 of American Idol.

The only spoilers that I knew of going into the Season, was who the top three were, and that there's two famous performances coming up from two of the top three (or infamous in the one case) but I am enjoying the performances for the most part, although there have been a few scary performances.

I will be doing my rankings of the performances on here, so for anyone else trying to also check the series out, and you don't want spoilers, it's probably best to click off the thread.

If you don't care about spoilers, then check my opinions of the nights out.

My rankings:

Live Show 1 - Michael Jackson - Rankings:
1. Adam Lambert - Black Or White
2. Allison Iraheta - Give In To Me
3. Alexis Grace - Dirty Diana
4. Danny Gokey - P.Y.T (Pretty Young Thing)

Live Show 2 - Grand Ole Opry - Rankings:
1. Adam Lambert - Ring Of Fire
2. Danny Gokey - Jesus, Take The Wheel
3. Allison Iraheta - Blame It On Your Heart
4. Megan Joy - Walkin After Midnight
5. Alexis Grace - Jolene
6. Matt Giraud - So Small
7. Anoop Desai - Always On My Mind
8. Scott MacIntyre - Wild Angels
9. Kris Allen - Make You Feel My Love
10. Michael Sarver - Ain't Goin Down (Til The Sun Comes Up)
11. Lil Rounds - Independence Day

Live Show 3 - Motown - Rankings:
1. Adam Lambert - The Tracks Of My Tears

5. Scott MacIntyre - You Can't Hurry Love
6. Lil Rounds - Heat Wave
7. Michael Sarver - Ain't Too Proud To Beg
8. Matt Giraud - Let's Get It On
9. Kris Allen - How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)
10. Megan Joy - For Once In My Life

Live Show 4 - Popular iTunes Downloads - Rankings:
1. Matt Giraud - You Found Me
2. Allison Iraheta - Don't Speak
3. Adam Lambert - Play That Funky Music
4. Kris Allen - Ain't No Sunshine
5. Danny Gokey - What Hurts The Most
6. Megan Joy - Turn Your Lights Down Low
7. Scott MacIntyre - Just The Way You Are
8. Anoop Desai - Caught Up
9. Lil Rounds - I Surrender

Obviously for anyone that knows how the votes played out in each of these weeks, knows that I have some strong disagreements with the American Idol public.

What did people on TIBB think of this series?

Live Show 5 - Contestants Birth Year - Rankings:
1. Adam Lambert - Mad World
2. Allison Iraheta - I Can't Make You Love Me
3. Danny Gokey - Stand By Me
4. Anoop Desai - True Colors

Live Show 6 - Movie Soundtracks - Rankings:
1. Adam Lambert - Born To Be Wild

3. Danny Gokey - Come Rain Or Come Shine
4. Matt Giraud - My Funny Valentine
5. Kris Allen - The Way You Look Tonight

Live Show 9 - Rock Music - Rankings:
1. Adam Lambert - Whole Lotta Love
2. Allison Iraheta - Cry Baby
3. Danny Gokey - Dream On - unpopular opinion, but I thought that Danny did the song mostly well, especially for a non-Rock singer. Yeah the scream could've been better, but at least he attempted it, rather than chicken out of doing it, plus I do think that he deserves credit for attempting the hardest song to sing on this particular night. And I do think that he sung most of the song well.
4. Kris Allen - Come Together

Live Show 10 - Songs Chosen By The Judges - Rankings:
1. Adam Lambert - One
2. Danny Gokey - Dance Little Sister
3. Kris Allen - Apologize

Live Show 10 - Songs Chosen By The Contestants:
1. Adam Lambert - Cryin
2. Kris Allen - Heartless
3. Danny Gokey - You Are So Beautiful

And let's face it at this point there's only new set of performances coming up, and because I've preferred Adam to Kris in 11 different rounds, I doubt that I need a 12th round to tell me who I think should've won.

No offense to Kris, as I'm sure that he is a nice guy, but he really shouldn't have beat Adam, Allison, Danny, Megan, Anoop, Matt, or Alexis in the competition, I'd also argue that Scott and Jasmine were better vocalists as well.

Kris tbf, had two performances that I thought were decent, but the winner? No.

I thought that he did Dream On better than how the American Idol public sold it to me.

If it weren't for the scream going wrong, I think most people would've said that he did a decent effort.

I mean don't get me wrong, he is no Reece Mastin when it comes to singing show versions of Dream On, but I feel like Danny's version is overhated.

Default American Idol Season 6 watch thread.

Okay... I've watched the first three Live Shows of Series 6 of American Idol, and I'll say that it's interesting.

There's been quite a few memorable performances tbf, and some of them have been decent, but overall the talent pool definitely is lower than in Season 8 imo.

Although I do feel like I've seen one of my favourite joke acts of all time in this series.

Anyway my rankings:

Live Show 1 - Diana Ross
1. LaKisha Jones - God Bless The Child
2. Jordin Sparks - If We Hold On Together
3. Sanjaya Malakar - Ain't No Mountain High Enough
4. Melinda Doolittle - Home
5. Chris Sligh - Endless Love
6. Gina Glocksen - Love Child
7. Stephanie Edwards - Love Hangover
8. Blake Lewis - You Keep Me Hangin On
9. Haley Scarnato - Missing You
10. Brandon Rogers - You Can't Hurry Love
11. Chris Richardson - The Boss
12. Phil Stacey - I'm Gonna Make You Love Me

Live Show 2 - British Invasion
1. Sanjaya Malakar - You Really Got Me - Let's just say... That this performance will never leave my memory.
2. Phil Stacey - Tobacco Road
3. LaKisha Jones - Diamonds Are Forever
4. Jordin Sparks - I (Who Have Nothing)
5. Gina Glocksen - Paint It Black
6. Chris Sligh - She's Not There
7. Melinda Doolittle - As Long As He Needs Me
8. Chris Richardson - Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying
9. Stephanie Edwards - You Don't Have To Say You Love Me
10. Blake Lewis - Time Of The Season
11. Haley Scarnato - Tell Him

Live Show 3 - Gwen Stefani (plus songs that inspired Gwen Stefani)
1. Blake Lewis - Lovesong
2. Chris Richardson - Don't Speak
3. Sanjaya Malakar - Bathwater
4. Gina Glocksen - I'll Stand By You
5. Haley Scarnato - True Colors - Imo, her best vocal.
6. Melinda Doolittle - Heaven Knows
7. LaKisha Jones - Last Dance
8. Phil Stacey - Every Breath You Take
9. Jordin Sparks - Hey Baby
10. Chris Sligh - Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more of these bizarre performances from this season.

Live Show 4 - American Classics
1. Melinda Doolittle - I Got Rhythm
2. LaKisha Jones - Stormy Weather
3. Phil Stacey - Night And Day
4. Sanjaya Malakar - Cheek To Cheek - definitely his best vocal at this stage imo.
5. Gina Glocksen - Smile
6. Haley Scarnato - Ain't Misbehavin
7. Jordin Sparks - On A Clear Day You Can See Forever
8. Chris Richardson - Don't Get Around Much Anymore
9. Blake Lewis - Mack The Knife

3. Chris Richardson - Mayberry
4. Phil Stacey - Where The Blacktop Ends
5. LaKisha Jones - Jesus, Take The Wheel
6. Sanjaya Malakar - Something To Talk About
7. Jordin Sparks - A Broken Wing

Live Show 7 - Inspirational Songs
1. Blake Lewis - Imagine
2. Melinda Doolittle - There Will Come A Day
3. Jordin Sparks - You'll Never Walk Alone
4. Phil Stacey - The Change
5. LaKisha Jones - I Believe
6. Chris Richardson - Change The World

Live Show 8 - Bon Jovi
1. Chris Richardson - Wanted Dead Or Alive - What a performance!
2. Melinda Doolittle - Have A Nice Day - Melinda imo did a lot better on this theme than I ever expected for her, fair play.
3. Blake Lewis - You Give Love A Bad Name - Definitely my favourite of Blake's more experimental performances.
4. Phil Stacey - Blaze Of Glory - He definitely improved a lot from the first Live Show.
5. LaKisha Jones - This Ain't A Love Song
6. Jordin Sparks - Livin On A Prayer - I actually didn't dislike this performance, I actually liked all of the performances in this round. I just felt that Jordin gave the weakest vocal out of the six.

Live Show 9 - Bee Gees Round 1
1. Blake Lewis - You Should Be Dancing - It's the performance I found to be the most catchy.
2. Melinda Doolittle - Love You Inside Out
3. Jordin Sparks - To Love Somebody
4. LaKisha Jones - Stayin Alive

Live Show 9 - Bee Gees Round 2
1. Jordin Sparks - Woman In Love

4. LaKisha Jones - Run To Me

Live Show 10 - Round 1
1. Melinda Doolittle - I Believe In You And Me
2. Blake Lewis - Roxanne
3. Jordin Sparks - Wishing On A Star - Has there ever been a good cover of this song on a Singing Show lol?

Live Show 10 - Round 2
1. Melinda Doolittle - Nutbush City Limits
2. Blake Lewis - This Love
3. Jordin Sparks - She Works Hard For The Money

Live Show 10 - Round 3
1. Blake Lewis - When I Get You Alone
2. Melinda Doolittle - I'm A Woman
3. Jordin Sparks - I (Who Have Nothing) - Her best performance on this particular night imo.

I didn't do the final two, because it's mainly repeat performances anyway.

And tbh I know that I would in general probably prefer Blake's performances.

Jordin imo is a better vocalist than Kris Allen from Series 8 imo, out of the two winners that I've heard so far, but she stagnated more for me as her series went along, where as Kris did get much better from his week 1 performance in Series 8 imo.

And in Jordin's own year, I feel like Melinda and LaKisha were better vocalists than her, and that nearly every other contestant was more interesting to watch than her. And in particular Blake, Chris, and Phil imo dramatically improved from their first week.

And look I get that it's subjective and all that, but I really haven't understood the American Idol voters choice in winners at all so far, maybe it's third time lucky.

Warning to anyone that does check this series out though, the first week is the worst Live Show by a mile, nearly everyone is terrible, bar imo LaKisha, Jordin, and Melinda, who could actually sing in key and remember their lyrics. And tbf Chris Sligh, Gina, and Stephanie were okay on the night, but watch out for what I believe to be the bottom 5 on the night, plus Sanjaya was a joke act for the year, so be prepared for him as well.

As I've said earlier, Blake, Phil, and Chris Richardson grow as the series goes along imo, and maybe partially I just got used to the way that all three performed.

I just listen to the performances on YouTube.

I did catch Simon getting really personal with Haley during one of her performances, basically slut shaming her for her outfit that she was wearing. And the outfit weren't that bad I think.

I honestly blame Simon's unnecessary critique of contestants as to why modern Talent Show judges have to be so lame and overly positive in their critique, because the judges and the production are both scared of their reputation being ruined by being even remotely similar to Simon.

I mean honestly, there was no need for Simon's comments towards Haley, and I say that as someone that isn't rooting for Haley on the Show.

Default American Idol Season 9 Rankings.

I've watched the first two Live Shows of Season 9 of American Idol.

I already have an iconic performance from this series in the first Live Show (but I already knew that I liked it from when I heard it years ago,) but it's still aged well for me when compared to the other performances that I've heard so far (even compared to said Contestant's Week 2 performance.)

I feel like Live Show 1 was better overall than Live Show 2, in particular I thought that Live Show 2 had two especially terrible performances (I honestly don't get how one of them escaped the bottom three tbh.)

Anyway my personal rankings so far.

Live Show 1 - The Rolling Stones
1. Siobhan Magnus - Paint It Black
2. Andrew Garcia - Gimme Shelter
3. Tim Urban - Under My Thumb
4. Didi Benami - Play With Fire
5. Crystal Bowersox - You Can't Always Get What You Want
6. Casey James - It's All Over Now
7. Paige Miles - Honky Tonk Women
8. Lee DeWyze - Beast Of Burden
9. Lacey Brown - Ruby Tuesday
10. Michael Lynche - Miss You
11. Katie Stevens - Wild Horses - This performance was extremely painful to listen to imo.
12. Aaron Kelly - Angie - I'm not convinced that there is even a good vocal to work with here.

Live Show 2 - Billboard Number Ones
1. Tim Urban - Crazy Little Thing Called Love
2. Crystal Bowersox - Me And Bobby McGee - Tbf, her vocal imo was the strongest on the night. It just wasn't as fun as Tim's performance for me.
3. Didi Benami - You're No Good - I don't get why Simon went so harsh on her tbh, I thought that there were quite a few worse than Didi on the night. I thought that she did well.
4. Siobhan Magnus - Superstition
5. Michael Lynche - When A Man Loves A Woman
6. Casey James - The Power Of Love
7. Katie Stevens - Big Girls Don't Cry
8. Andrew Garcia - I Heard It Through The Grapevine
9. Lee DeWyze - The Letter
10. Aaron Kelly - I Don't Want To Miss A Thing - He murdered it imo, like really butchered it. I can't really say anything nice about the performance without lying to myself, which I refuse to do.
11. Paige Miles - Against All Odds (Take A Look At Me Now) - Somehow even worse than Aaron Kelly's butchery of Aerosmith. I know that I'm probably sounding harsh, but they both were really bad on the night imo.

Live Show 3 - R&B/Soul
1. Michael Lynche - Ready For Love
2. Lee DeWyze - Treat Her Like A Lady
3. Crystal Bowersox - Midnight Train To Georgia
4. Andrew Garcia - Forever
5. Tim Urban - Sweet Love
6. Didi Benami - What Becomes Of The Brokenhearted
7. Casey James - Hold On, I'm Comin
8. Katie Stevens - Chain Of Fools
9. Siobhan Magnus - Through The Fire
10. Aaron Kelly - Ain't No Sunshine

Live Show 4 - Lennon-McCartney
1. Siobhan Magnus - Across The Universe
2. Crystal Bowersox - Come Together
3. Michael Lynche - Eleanor Rigby
4. Katie Stevens - Let It Be
5. Tim Urban - All My Loving
6. Andrew Garcia - Can't Buy Me Love
7. Casey James - Jealous Guy - He has a good voice, but he really needs to start pushing himself more.
8. Lee DeWyze - Hey Jude
9. Aaron Kelly - The Long And Winding Road

The Lennon-McCartney night has been my favourite so far in this series, most of the performances were of a high standard imo.

Live Show 5 - Elvis Presley
1. Tim Urban - Can't Help Falling In Love
2. Michael Lynche - In The Ghetto
3. Crystal Bowersox - Saved
4. Andrew Garcia - Hound Dog
5. Aaron Kelly - Blue Suede Shoes - An improvement from Aaron imo.
6. Lee DeWyze - A Little Less Conversation - It was okay, Lee needs to start pushing himself more though imo.
7. Siobhan Magnus - Suspicious Minds
8. Katie Stevens - Baby What You Want Me To Do
9. Casey James - Lawdy Miss Clawdy - He is getting really samey for my taste. He needs to come out and do something unexpected imo.

Live Show 6 - Inspirational Music
1. Michael Lynche - Hero
2. Tim Urban - Better Days
3. Crystal Bowersox - People Get Ready
4. Siobhan Magnus - When You Believe
5. Lee DeWyze - The Boxer
6. Casey James - Don't Stop
7. Aaron Kelly - I Believe I Can Fly - That vocal.

Live Show 7 - Shania Twain
1. Crystal Bowersox - No One Needs To Know
2. Siobhan Magnus - Any Man Of Mine - I thought that this was one of Siobhan's better nights personally. Another really shocking voting decision in this season for me.
3. Michael Lynche - It Only Hurts When I'm Breathing
4. Aaron Kelly - You've Got A Way - Finally! A decent performance from Aaron, it's nice to say that I genuinely liked a performance off him.
5. Casey James - Don't
6. Lee DeWyze - You're Still The One

Live Show 8 - Frank Sinatra
1. Michael Lynche - The Way You Look Tonight
2. Crystal Bowersox - Summer Wind - Definitely her worst performance imo.
3. Lee DeWyze - That's Life
4. Aaron Kelly - Fly Me To The Moon
5. Casey James - Blue Skies - Whoa!

Live Show 9 - Movie Soundtracks
1. Crystal Bowersox - I'm Alright
2. Lee DeWyze - Kiss From A Rose
3. Michael Lynche - Will You Be There
4. Casey James - Mrs. Robinson

Live Show 10 - Round 1
1. Crystal Bowersox - Come To My Window
2. Lee DeWyze - Simple Man
3. Casey James - Ok, It's Alright With Me

Live Show 10 - Round 2
1. Crystal Bowersox - Maybe I'm Amazed
2. Lee DeWyze - Hallelujah
3. Casey James - Daughters

I mean imo it's obvious that Crystal should've won the Season for being an incredible vocalist every week bar Frank Sinatra night.

And if not Crystal, then it should've been one of Siobhan, Michael, or the underrated Tim.

Lee should've finished fifth, and Casey should've gone around week 5, when his act was running stale imo.

Default American Idol Season 13 Rankings.

I'm really in the zone with American Idol at the moment, I've done the first three Live Shows of Season 13 so far, and I am liking the Season so far.

I was definitely scared early on in the first Live Show (bar one performance, which I thought was decent,) but thankfully the later performances on the night (plus the next two Live Shows,) have got me more into the Season.

And I've already got a few iconic performances in the series, which I'm happy about.

Anyway my rankings.

Live Show 3 - Movie Soundtracks
1. Jena Irene - Decode
2. Jessica Meuse - The Sound Of Silence - The judges heavily underrate her performances imo.
3. Caleb Johnson - Skyfall - Tbf, a very good vocal, I weren't a huge fan of the Shows arrangement for him though, they did a bizarre edit to the song for my taste. But as I've already said, Caleb is delivering a fantastic vocal.

Live Show 12 - Round 2
1. Alex Preston - Stay
2. Jena Irene - Heart Attack
3. Caleb Johnson - Demons - Being serious, this is Caleb's worst vocal of the entire Season imo, I do think that he was getting stagnant anyway, but this was definitely a below par performance for him. He is a great vocalist overall though imo, despite the stagnation that I felt with him by the end. Again like Alex, Caleb was ill on the night, so I'll cut him some slack in the vocal department.

However my point about him stagnating towards the end of the competition I do believe to be true.

And Caleb and Jena were definitely the most favoured by production that I have possibly seen by any of the Seasons that I have watched of American Idol so far.

I'm personally really enjoying the series, I personally think that the talent is stronger than Season 6, and on par with Season 9 imo (and because the voting is better in this year, you do overall get better Live Shows.)

Season 8 I still think might have overall the strongest line-up that I've seen though, because Season 13 does have some early elimination contestants that are... Interesting.

The one contestant begins with a K, and the other begins with an M.

There's a few gripes that I have with the Season though, that I will address out of fairness.

1. The camera has to stop panning to the judges when the contestants are performing, sometimes I'm seeing more of Jennifer Lopez than I am say C.J for example during his performance.

I want to watch the contestants, not the judges.

2. The favouritism towards Jena, Alex, and Caleb from production is really blatant, they all get late time slots, and overall preferential treatment. Don't get me wrong, I really like Caleb, and I have really liked some performances from Jena, and I really liked Alex's first Live Show, so I'm not hating on any of the three, it's just to me, they're blatantly being favoured by production.

3. Jessica and Dexter (especially Dexter,) getting harsh time slots and comments, like Jessica and Dexter delivered good performances every week imo (or to where I am currently with Jessica,) yet the Show has mistreated them badly imo, I mean Dexter even got picked on for his diction which I thought was really rude, especially considering that I could personally understand what he was saying, and I could understand what he was singing, so the comment just felt like they wanted to make him look like a simpleton, which is really harsh imo.

4. Sam being treated as "The Hearthrob," does him a massive disservice in my view.

Apart from Come Together in the third Live Show, I think that Sam has delivered solid vocals and has displayed a strong talent throughout the competition, I really don't like how the Show is treating him like he is their own equivalent to Lloyd Daniels off of The X Factor.

He was a good contestant in his year, and I will not be embarrassed to admit that.

5. Jennifer Lopez speaking to the judges during certain contestants performances, in particular I've seen her do it multiple times to Jessica, and at least once to Caleb, C.J (RIP,) and Sam, whether the production are telling her to do that, or she's being deliberately unlikable, it's really disrespectful imo, and blatantly trying to influence the public to feel a certain way about certain performers/performances, which I say let people make their own minds up on the Show.

I've done a chart for each of the Seasons that I've completed of American Idol, where I combine my rankings of contestants on each night, and start tallying up points to how the series would've gone in each Season if it was up to me.

Obviously the contestants that were in less weeks are disadvantaged, because they can't pick up points in my chart when they've been eliminated from the competition.

Default American Idol Season 11 Rankings.

I've done the first two Live Shows so far.

I feel like some of them have talent (although the Show isn't always utilizing some of these talented acts very well imo,) and some of them really don't (like so far imo, the hearthrob contestant is not breaking negative stereotypes for that type of contestant this year I think.)

And I remember listening to a few performances from this year, years ago, but I am attempting to go in with an open mind.

Anyway my rankings.

Live Show 1 - Whitney Houston & Stevie Wonder
1. Colton Dixon - Lately
2. Phillip Phillips - Superstition
3. Jessica Sanchez - I Will Always Love You
4. Elise Testone - I'm Your Baby Tonight
5. Joshua Ledet - I Wish
6. Skylar Laine - Where Do Broken Hearts Go
7. Heejun Han - All In Love Is Fair
8. Hollie Cavanagh - All The Man That I Need
9. Erika Van Pelt - I Believe In You And Me
10. Jermaine Jones - Knocks Me Off My Feet
11. DeAndre Brackensick - Master Blaster (Jammin)
12. Jeremy Rosado - Ribbon In The Sky
13. Shannon Magrane - I Have Nothing -

Live Show 2 - Contestants Birth Year
1. Jessica Sanchez - Turn The Beat Around
2. Joshua Ledet - When A Man Loves A Woman
3. Elise Testone - Let's Stay Together
4. Phillip Phillips - Hard To Handle
5. Colton Dixon - Broken Heart
6. Skylar Laine - Love Sneakin Up On You
7. Hollie Cavanagh - The Power Of Love
8. Heejun Han - Right Here Waiting
9. Shannon Magrane - One Sweet Day - A slight improvement over the first week imo.
10. Erika Van Pelt - Heaven -
11. DeAndre Brackensick - Endless Love -

Live Show 3 - Billy Joel
1. Colton Dixon - Piano Man
2. Elise Testone - Vienna
3. Phillip Phillips - Movin Out (Anthony's Song)
4. Joshua Ledet - She's Got A Way
5. Skylar Laine - Shameless
6. Jessica Sanchez - Everybody Has A Dream
7. Heejun Han - My Life - Definitely... Interesting.
8. Hollie Cavanagh - Honesty
9. DeAndre Brackensick - Only The Good Die Young -
10. Erika Van Pelt - New York State Of Mind - Without meaning to be too disrespectful here, but how did Erika and DeAndre even get to the lives? Their performances are chronic imo.

Live Show 4 - Personal Idols
1. Elise Testone - Whole Lotta Love
2. Joshua Ledet - Without You
3. Jessica Sanchez - Sweet Dreams
4. Skylar Laine - Gunpowder & Lead - I think that Skylar has been a decent singer imo, the public were a bit harsh this week in my view.
5. Colton Dixon - Everything
6. Phillip Phillips - Still Rainin
7. Heejun Han - A Song For You - Heejun's best vocal imo.
8. Hollie Cavanagh - Jesus, Take The Wheel
9. DeAndre Brackensick - Sometimes I Cry -

Live Show 5 - Music From The 1980's
1. Colton Dixon - Time After Time
2. Joshua Ledet - If You Don't Know Me By Now
3. Skylar Laine - Wind Beneath My Wings
4. Phillip Phillips - That's All
5. Jessica Sanchez - How Will I Know
6. Elise Testone - I Want To Know What Love Is
7. Hollie Cavanagh - Flashdance... What A Feeling -
8. DeAndre Brackensick - I Like It - The emoji can't even describe DeAndre's performances at this point lol.

This night I thought was the weakest of the series imo, only Colton, Joshua, and Skylar sounded any good on the night imo.

Live Show 6 - Music From The 2010's
1. Colton Dixon - Love The Way You Lie - This performance definitely is above the average quality of the Season imo, because this Season definitely isn't as good as 13, 8, or 9 imo, but Colton's Love The Way You Lie performance definitely could've belonged in one of those Seasons, a really strong performance.
2. Joshua Ledet - Runaway Baby
3. Skylar Laine - Didn't You Know How Much I Loved You
4. Hollie Cavanagh - ****in Perfect - Definitely my favourite Hollie performance.
5. Phillip Phillips - Give A Little More
6. Jessica Sanchez - Stuttering - Good vocal, but wtf at the song! Lol.
7. Elise Testone - You And I

Live Show 7 - Music From Now & Then - Round 1
1. Colton Dixon - Bad Romance
2. Joshua Ledet - I Believe
3. Phillip Phillips - U Got It Bad - Definitely one of his more interesting performances imo.
4. Jessica Sanchez - Fallin
5. Skylar Laine - Born This Way
6. Hollie Cavanagh - Rolling In The Deep
7. Elise Testone - No One

Live Show 7 - Music From Now & Then - Round 2
1. Colton Dixon - September - I've seen some bad voting decisions on American Idol since I've been getting into the Show, but Season 11's equivalent to Adam Lambert (in terms of being the most talented,) being eliminated at the top 7 is ****ing crazy to me personally. He very clearly was head and shoulders above the rest of the line-up in my view.
2. Joshua Ledet - A Change Is Gonna Come
3. Jessica Sanchez - Try A Little Tenderness - It weren't perfect imo, but I did really like the growl sounding notes.
4. Skylar Laine - I Heard It Through The Grapevine
5. Phillip Phillips - In The Midnight Hour
6. Hollie Cavanagh - Son Of A Preacher Man
7. Elise Testone - Let's Get It On

Live Show 8 - Round 1
1. Skylar Laine - The Show Must Go On
2. Jessica Sanchez - Bohemian Rhapsody
3. Elise Testone - I Want It All
4. Phillip Phillips - Fat Bottomed Girls
5. Joshua Ledet - Crazy Little Thing Called Love
6. Hollie Cavanagh - Save Me

Live Show 8 - Round 2
1. Joshua Ledet - Ready For Love
2. Hollie Cavanagh - The Climb - The way the arrangement worked for her on both The Climb and with Perfect, I believe that this type of song is where Hollie should've gone down more often on the Show, as both songs compliment her voice quite well imo.
3. Jessica Sanchez - Dance With My Father
4. Phillip Phillips - The Stone - I felt like Phillip was on the cusp of doing something truly amazing here, but the goofy smile kind of took me out of his performance, and not for the first time this season with one of his performances.
5. Skylar Laine - Tattoos On This Town
6. Elise Testone - Bold As Love

Live Show 9 - Round 1
1. Jessica Sanchez - Proud Mary
2. Joshua Ledet - Ain't Too Proud To Beg
3. Skylar Laine - Fortunate Son
4. Hollie Cavanagh - River Deep Mountain High
5. Phillip Phillips - The Letter - I don't why he isn't getting better at this stage of the competition, he is still at week 1 level.

Live Show 9 - Round 2
1. Hollie Cavanagh - Bleeding Love - I don't know what I'm more shocked about tbh, the fact that there was a really good cover of Bleeding Love, the fact that it's in this particular series of American Idol and it wasn't from Colton delivering such a quality performance, or the fact that it came from Hollie, who whilst admittedly has improved over the last few rounds, I didn't think that she could sing to this level. A pleasant surprise of the series for me.
2. Jessica Sanchez - You Are So Beautiful
3. Joshua Ledet - To Love Somebody
4. Skylar Laine - You Don't Have To Say You Love Me
5. Phillip Phillips - Time Of The Season - Tbf, I liked this performance more than his first leg, but seriously what is wrong with the American Idol voters? They're worse than The X Factor ones (with the exception of Caleb tbf.)

Live Show 10 - Round 1
1. Hollie Cavanagh - Faithfully - Not anywhere near the Bleeding Love standard imo, but still a decent performance.
2. Jessica Sanchez - Steal Away
3. Joshua Ledet - You Raise Me Up - I actually noticed Joshua hit a bum note, it finally happened, which is incredible that it took so long.
4. Phillip Phillips - Have You Ever Seen The Rain?

Live Show 10 - Round 2
1. Phillip Phillips - Volcano - Finally! A really good performance from Phillip, and no bloody smiling during the performance either.
2. Joshua Ledet - It's A Man's Man's Man's World - A fantastic vocal from Joshua, definitely the best vocal of the night imo, even if the song choice is lazy and uninspired.
3. Hollie Cavanagh - I Can't Make You Love Me
4. Jessica Sanchez - And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going - Definitely my least favourite Jessica performance by a mile.

Live Show 11 - Round 1
1. Joshua Ledet - I'd Rather Go Blind
2. Jessica Sanchez - My All - Definitely nice to hear a different Mariah song being covered.
3. Phillip Phillips - Beggin

Live Show 11 - Round 2
1. Joshua Ledet - Imagine
2. Jessica Sanchez - I Don't Want To Miss A Thing
3. Phillip Phillips - Disease

Live Show 11 - Round 3
1. Joshua Ledet - No More Drama - Definitely joining Colton's Love The Way You Lie and Hollie's Bleeding Love as the iconic performances of the Season imo.
2. Jessica Sanchez - I'll Be There
3. Phillip Phillips - We've Got Tonite

Default American Season 10 Rankings.

I've watched the first two Live Shows of American Idol Season 10.

I'll say that there are some talented acts this series (one of them being in the bottom three in both weeks) which just baffles me if you hear some of the other contestants in the line-up.

Because that's the issue so far, some of the contestants are absolutely woeful so far, I don't know what the **** is even going on with how bad some of them are.

And the "good" ones are definitely talented to a point, but a couple of them could do better with the song choices imo, like **** me with Celine Dion and Whitney Houston being done by a Diva singer in the first two weeks for example.

Anyway here's my rankings.

Live Show 1 - Personal Idols
1. Haley Reinhart - Blue
2. Jacob Lusk - I Believe I Can Fly
3. Pia Toscano - All By Myself
4. James Durbin - Maybe I'm Amazed - another contestant that definitely needs to push himself more. But good voice.
5. Casey Abrams - With A Little Help From My Friends
6. Lauren Alaina - Any Man Of Mine
7. Paul McDonald - Come Pick Me Up - I am not sure that he can particularly sing that well, but he is more entertaining than the people that I'm placing below him on this night imo.
8. Naima Adedapo - Umbrella -
9. Scotty McCreery - The River -
10. Thia Megia - Smile -
11. Stefano Langone - Lately -
12. Ashthon Jones - When You Tell Me That You Love Me -
13. Karen Rodriguez - I Could Fall In Love -

Live Show 2 - Contestants Birth Year
1. Casey Abrams - Smells Like Teen Spirit
2. Jacob Lusk - Alone
3. Pia Toscano - Where Do Broken Hearts Go
4. James Durbin - I'll Be There For You
5. Lauren Alaina - I'm The Only One
6. Haley Reinhart - I'm Your Baby Tonight
7. Paul McDonald - I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues - Whoa!
8. Scotty McCreery - Can I Trust You With My Heart -
9. Thia Megia - Colors Of The Wind -
10. Naima Adedapo - What's Love Got To Do With It -
11. Karen Rodriguez - Love Will Lead You Back -
12. Stefano Langone - If You Don't Know Me By Now - What the heck!

Live Show 3 - Motown
1. Haley Reinhart - You've Really Got A Hold On Me
2. James Durbin - Living For The City
3. Jacob Lusk - You're All I Need To Get By
4. Paul McDonald - The Tracks Of My Tears - He is oddly growing on me.
5. Casey Abrams - I Heard It Through The Grapevine - it weren't his best performance, but I still can't believe that the public were going to eliminate him at the top 11, have they not heard some of the contestants in this series? I mean it's really hard to stay respectful about what I think were the bottom 3 or 4 performances this week.
6. Pia Toscano - All In Love Is Fair - Pia is talented, but her song choices are very uninteresting to me.
7. Lauren Alaina - You Keep Me Hangin On - I personally don't think that the song choice suited Lauren very well personally.
8. Naima Adedapo - Dancing In The Street -
9. Scotty McCreery - For Once In My Life - Surely he'll stop joking around soon.
10. Thia Megia - Heat Wave -
11. Stefano Langone - Hello - This has got to be one of the most painful vocals that I've heard throughout my watch of American Idol, what the absolute ****!

Live Show 4 - Elton John
1. Haley Reinhart - Bennie And The Jets - Haley's best vocal so far.
2. Casey Abrams - Your Song
3. James Durbin - Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting - It's probably the most fun James performance so far imo.
4. Pia Toscano - Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me - As cliched as the song choice was for Pia, she did sing it well tbf, which is like gold dust in this series.
5. Paul McDonald - Rocket Man - His weird performances are interesting to watch.
6. Lauren Alaina - Candle In The Wind
7. Jacob Lusk - Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word - I feel like the song didn't really suit him imo.
8. Stefano Langone - Tiny Dancer - It was still terrible, but he did improve a little bit, which I like to acknowledge.
9. Naima Adedapo - I'm Still Standing -
10. Scotty McCreery - Country Comfort - He'll show his talent at some point, surely!
11. Thia Megia - Daniel - Her performances were consistently dull imo.

Live Show 5 - Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame
1. James Durbin - While My Guitar Gently Weeps
2. Casey Abrams - Have You Ever Seen The Rain?
3. Haley Reinhart - Piece Of My Heart
4. Lauren Alaina - You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman - She sung it well tbf, but it was nowhere near as riveting to watch as my top 3 for me.
5. Jacob Lusk - Man In The Mirror
6. Pia Toscano - River Deep Mountain High - Definitely not Pia's best performance.
7. Paul McDonald - Folsom Prison Blues - I like Paul, but it's definitely starting to get noticeable that he is really starting to fall behind most of the competition talent wise.
8. Scotty McCreery - That's All Right - I honestly don't understand the support for Scotty on the Show where I'm currently at with the Show. He has a really weak vocal imo, nearly every male singer left in the competition can sing better than him in my view.
9. Stefano Langone - When A Man Loves A Woman - One of the few male singers in the competition that's admittedly weaker vocally than Scotty imo.

Live Show 6 - Movie Soundtracks
1. James Durbin - Heavy Metal
2. Haley Reinhart - Call Me
3. Casey Abrams - Nature Boy
4. Jacob Lusk - Bridge Over Troubled Water
5. Lauren Alaina - The Climb - I really don't think that the song choice suited Lauren very well imo. She struggled to hit some of the notes I thought.
6. Scotty McCreery - I Cross My Heart
7. Paul McDonald - Old Time Rock And Roll
8. Stefano Langone - End Of The Road - What the flipping heck!

Live Show 7 - Music From The 21st Century
1. Casey Abrams - Harder To Breathe - I'll controversially say that I think he did a better version than Maroon 5, I really enjoyed the performance personally, and the grunts definitely add character to his performance. But seriously he did a really good job.
2. James Durbin - Uprising - A very strong second favourite on the night for me, he weren't as good as Matt Bellamy imo, but he came closer than I expected him to. It was definitely a very strong effort from James.
3. Haley Reinhart - Rolling In The Deep - The gorgeous Haley Reinhart. I would say along with Casey and James, all three of them are making great cases as to why they should win the Season imo, it should be absolutely criminal that someone with Haley's vocal has been in the bottom three FOUR times! When there has been some shocking performances by some contestants this series.
4. Jacob Lusk - Dance With My Father
5. Lauren Alaina - Born To Fly
6. Stefano Langone - Closer - Definitely my favourite Stefano performance, it actually was an okay performance, I feel like this would probably be the kind of Music that Stefano would sing in the charts, rather than some of the more bizarre numbers that have been given to him throughout the Season.
7. Scotty McCreery - Swingin - Going into the top six, I would honestly say that I believe him to be the weakest vocalist left in the competition, it's really bizarre how he is getting so many votes.

What the absolute **** was going on with the public during this Season?

Live Show 8 - Carole King
1. Haley Reinhart - Beautiful
2. James Durbin - Will You Love Me Tomorrow
3. Lauren Alaina - Where You Lead
4. Scotty McCreery - You've Got A Friend - I can only say the same thing so many times lol.
5. Casey Abrams - That Old Sweet Roll (Hi-De-Ho) - Tbf to Casey, the song choice was terrible. I don't think that anybody could make this song impressive to listen to.
6. Jacob Lusk - Oh No Not My Baby -

Live Show 9 - Round 1
1. Lauren Alaina - Flat On The Floor - My favourite Lauren performance so far. It was fun to listen to.
2. Scotty McCreery - Gone - Definitely Scotty's best performance by a country mile (pun intended.)
3. Haley Reinhart - You And I
4. Jacob Lusk - No Air -
5. James Durbin - Closer To The Edge - Did James catch Alex and Caleb's Bronchitis from Series 13? I mean tbf this performance isn't James usual standards, but it was a car crash performance imo.

Live Show 9 - Round 2
1. Haley Reinhart - The House Of The Rising Sun -
2. James Durbin - Without You
3. Scotty McCreery - Always On My Mind - He has a weak vocal imo.
4. Lauren Alaina - Unchained Melody - This song should never have been given to Lauren, it felt awkward watching her trying to sing it.
5. Jacob Lusk - Love Hurts - I don't know what's happened to Jacob, but his last three performances have been really poor imo.

Live Show 10 - Round 1
1. James Durbin - Don't Stop Believin
2. Haley Reinhart - Earth Song
3. Lauren Alaina - Anyway
4. Scotty McCreery - Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning)

Live Show 10 - Round 2
1. James Durbin - Love Potion No. 9
2. Haley Reinhart - I (Who Have Nothing)
3. Scotty McCreery - Young Blood - A fun Scotty performance in fairness.
4. Lauren Alaina - Trouble

Live Show 11 - Round 1
1. Haley Reinhart - What Is And What Should Never Be - The fall is meme-worthy. But I do think that she easily out sung and outperformed the other two in this leg.
2. Scotty McCreery - Amazed
3. Lauren Alaina - Wild One - I can't even remember the performance that well.

Live Show 11 - Round 2
1. Haley Reinhart - Rhiannon - Again easily ahead imo.
2. Lauren Alaina - If I Die Young
3. Scotty McCreery - Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not

Live Show 11 - Round 3
1. Haley Reinhart - You Oughta Know - Again, way better than the other two on the night imo.
2. Lauren Alaina - I Hope You Dance
3. Scotty McCreery - She Believes In Me

Default American Idol Season 19 Rankings.

Before I say my opinion of the top 16 performances, I just want to say that whilst I know that somebody quit the Show for wearing KKK attire (thanks to my Brother giving me the information) I don't want to be spoiled on who it is because it will negatively affect my view of said Contestant, and I do like to try to judge everybody as fair as Humanly possible.

And if it was one of the teen contestants, then I will have a bit of sympathy for them, because we all have said and done stupid things when we're in our teens, so I would personally support them being given a second chance not just in the Music industry, but in society too, because from my perspective it could be the 15 year old (at the time of the Show) Ava who this has happened to, and I don't support and never will support 15 year olds being persecuted for the rest of their lives.

Obviously if it's an adult, then you're asking for trouble, and I do have less sympathy in that scenario as you should already know better.

Anyway KKK stuff aside (which I never thought that I'd be saying) here's my rankings of the two play-off legs.

Play-Offs - Round 1
1. Cassandra Coleman - Wicked Game
2. Chayce Beckham - Waiting In Vain
3. Caleb Kennedy - Midnight Train To Memphis
4. Ava August - 2002
5. Grace Kinstler - Elastic Heart
6. Alyssa Wray - Killing Me Softly With His Song
7. Alanis Sophia - The Story
8. Willie Spence - Set Fire To The Rain
9. Wyatt Pike - Use Somebody
10. Hunter Metts - Skinny Love
11. Casey Bishop - Black Hole Sun
12. Beane - Searching For A Feeling
13. Graham DeFranco - That's Life
14. Madison Watkins - Gravity
15. Colin Jamieson - Everybody Wants To Rule The World
16. Deshawn Goncalves - Feeling Good

Play-Offs - Round 2
1. Casey Bishop - The House Of The Rising Sun
2. Caleb Kennedy - Nowhere
3. Ava August - Love Of My Life
4. Willie Spence - Diamonds
5. Chayce Beckham - What Brings Life Also Kills
6. Grace Kinstler - Dangerous Woman
7. Cassandra Coleman - Light On
8. Alanis Sophia - Heart Attack
9. Hunter Metts - I Can't Make You Love Me
10. Colin Jamieson - Waves
11. Beane - Grow As We Go
12. Madison Watkins - Hotline Bling
13. Alyssa Wray - The Greatest Love Of All
14. Graham DeFranco - Cover Me Up
15. Deshawn Goncalves - Higher Ground

Overall the line-up I think has potential to be better than Seasons 10 & 11 imo, hopefully that will be the case.

Live Show 1 - Oscar-Nominated Songs
1. Hunter Metts - Falling Slowly
2. Chayce Beckham - (Everything I Do) I Do It For You
3. Willie Spence - Stand Up
4. Ava August - City Of Stars - I thought that she did well personally.
5. Caleb Kennedy - On The Road Again
6. Alyssa Wray - This Is Me
7. Deshawn Goncalves - The Way We Were
8. Casey Bishop - Over The Rainbow
9. Grace Kinstler - Happy
10. Madison Watkins - Run To You
11. Cassandra Coleman - Writing's On The Wall
12. Beane - (I've Had) The Time Of My Life -

Live Show 2 - Disney
1. Caleb Kennedy - Real Gone - I really enjoyed the performance, a great way for the Show to be opened up imo.
2. Grace Kinstler - Into The Unknown
3. Hunter Metts - You'll Be In My Heart
4. Arthur Gunn - Remember Me - Not a bad debut into the season.
5. Willie Spence - Circle Of Life
6. Cassandra Coleman - Go The Distance
7. Casey Bishop - When She Loved Me
8. Deshawn Goncalves - When You Wish Upon A Star
9. Chayce Beckham - Baby Mine - Good vocal, but wtf at the song! It nearly put me to sleep.
10. Alyssa Wray - A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes - Again, **** me at the song.

Live Show 3 - Coldplay
1. Willie Spence - Yellow
2. Hunter Metts - Everglow
3. Caleb Kennedy - Violet Hill
4. Chayce Beckham - Magic
5. Grace Kinstler - Fix You
6. Arthur Gunn - In My Place
7. Casey Bishop - Paradise

Live Show 3 - Mother's Day
1. Casey Bishop - Ironic
2. Hunter Metts - The River
3. Chayce Beckham - Mama
4. Caleb Kennedy - Mama Said
5. Arthur Gunn - Simple Man
6. Grace Kinstler - When We Were Young
7. Willie Spence - You Are So Beautiful

And after having the context of the situation, I do think that Caleb's removal is extremely harsh, and I'm not just saying that because I liked his performances, I think it's harsh to remove someone because they were in a photo with their friend (who was the one wearing the KKK outfit, not Caleb) and apparently it was a reenactment of a Film, would I personally choose to dress up in a KKK outfit? No, but should Caleb be removed because he was friends with someone that did wear a KKK costume? Controversially I am going to say no.

I honestly hope that the Music industry hasn't permanently shut the doors to Caleb because of this incident, I mean even if you don't like what him and his friend were doing, there should be a door for both of them to have a second chance to achieve their dreams, especially given that they're both still quite young.

And I have read more on how Caleb's life is currently going, I think that it's honestly tragic to see, hopefully he'll turn his life back around from where it's currently headed, because he seemed like a decent guy on American Idol before his life got ruined, and he has talent imo.

But if he has murdered someone, then obviously he'll have to face the consequences imo.

And RIP to Willie Spence, as I found out a few hours ago that he had died in a car crash in 2022, again a tragic incident, and I hope that his family are doing well.

Live Show 4 - Round 1
1. Willie Spence - Glory
2. Chayce Beckham - Colder Weather
3. Grace Kinstler - A Moment Like This
4. Casey Bishop - Wish You Were Gay

Live Show 4 - Round 2
1. Casey Bishop - Love Me, Leave Me
2. Willie Spence - Never Be Alone
3. Chayce Beckham - 23
4. Grace Kinstler - Love Someone

Live Show 4 - Round 3
1. Casey Bishop - Live Wire
2. Willie Spence - I Was Here
3. Chayce Beckham - You Should Probably Leave - It was quite a catchy number imo.
4. Grace Kinstler - Father

It was a strong top 4 night imo.

Live Show 5 - Round 1
1. Grace Kinstler - All By Myself
2. Willie Spence - Georgia On My Mind
3. Chayce Beckham - Blackbird

Live Show 5 - Round 2
1. Chayce Beckham - Fire Away
2. Grace Kinstler - I Have Nothing
3. Willie Spence - A Change Is Gonna Come

Definitely my least favourite night of the Season.
