Default 2 Conservatives resigned Robert Halfon MP & James Heappey MP

From the Government Positions today


[Education Minister Robert Halfon
has resigned from government,
confirming he will be the
63rd Conservative MP
to stand down at the next election.]

[He will be replaced in the
Department for Education by Luke Hall,
the MP for Thornbury and Yate near Bristol.]

[Confirming his departure on X, Mr Heappy
said he "loved every minute"
of his job, but added: "The work isn't done.]

Leo Docherty MP replaces Heappy.

Before the 2010 election, 150 MPs announced they would stand down, mainly from the Labour party.

In power for 13 years, Labour MPs knew their days in office could be numbered.

That is correct although a reason for a good number was that was the time of the MPs expenses scandal too
Which saw a lot of MPs resigning over that serious issue.
