Default (Executive chairman of JCB) Lord Bamford has retired from the House of Lords.

[The 78-year-old Conservative peer
stepped down on 1 March, according
to parliamentary records.

He recently celebrated 60 years
of service with the construction equipment
firm, based in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire.

JCB told the BBC that Lord Bamford
was "honoured to have had the opportunity
to serve in the House of Lords."

A spokesperson for the company said:
“Lord Bamford, at the age of 78,
is full-time executive chairman of JCB,
a £5.7bn British-based family business.

“He has devoted a lot of time in recent
years to highlighting the important
role of hydrogen as a zero-carbon
fuel of the future," they said,
adding that he was "keen to continue
this important work."]
