I know it sounds OTT, but that's two years in a row now where the Juries have just rammed a **** ton of points onto an act that weren't the most popular with the public, in Switzerland's case they weren't even in the top three of the public vote.
Going by other singing Shows, the public don't like to feel like their voices aren't being heard, plus what are we going to have next year, the Juries pushing a contestant that's finishing 8th in the public vote? It's a slippery slope to go on in my view. Having said all of that though, I did really like Switzerland's song personally.

No, they balance it out, if it wasn’t for the juries do you know how many times Moldova would have won with complete garbage?

What's the point of the public vote, if an act that's scraping into 4th place with the public just wins instead? Plus none of Croatia, Ukraine, or Israel's songs were chronically awful like what you're describing.

I don't honestly know Mock.
This was a very strong Eurovision in my view so I was surprised to see a runaway winner with the jury votes. The public vote is as mystifying at times to me. We just have to accept the voting is as it is. |

They really pissed me off last night. Croatia should have got all those jury votes, not Switzerland.

If I understand correctly, the juries have voted before any public vote result is known so they can't really know if they're aligned with the public vote or not.
It is of course obviously political, with the irony being that a lot of votes went to Switzerland (partly) because Switzerland are seen as a neutral choice. Personally I think Croatia would have been a more interesting winner and still not controversial. Switzerland is a very "safe" choice. It was a weird show. |

But for the juries Israel would have won. But no, there has to be a faceless liberal elite "balancing" the vote so we get a boy in a peach skirt on a lazy Susan with a less than average song. The UK got the public vote it deserved.

The juries vote on the Friday before the final.
So the acts do a full run on that Friday. Then again for the public on Saturday. Not sure why that's necessary myself. |

As a Keiino fan during the 2019 contest, I understand being disappointed when your favourite doesn’t do as well with the jury as it does with the public vote, but in general the juries serve a purpose and it should definitely not be left up to the public, especially now that the contest is obviously being used as political messaging by the public more than usual

politics aside, Israel's song was just a X Factor winner song styled power ballad, what wouldn't have been talked about as much if it wasn't for the controversies regarding the Israeli war in Gaza
nothing i haven't heard before tbh, very similar to Xtina's ''Beautiful'' or Mariah's ''Hero'' my personal top 5 out of the finalists 1. Croatia 2. Greece 3. Armenia 4. Latvia 5. Norway with outside top 5 for me in the 6-10 zone 6. Switzerland 7. Italy 8. Portugal 9. Ukraine 10. France

Juries if rammed full of far-left nutjobs who have Palestine and rainbow flags on their X profiles are pretty useless - a jury lives and dies with how balanced it is

Israel would have in fact come in 2nd place - it was close, but Croatia won the public vote, not Israel.

Also if we really are going to take politics totally out of the equation - it's fairly evident that Israel did not have the best song. Don't get me wrong, Switzerland was nowhere near my top 5 either, but if we're getting precious about things being "fair and proper", Israel's actual song and performance was middle-of-the-pack. I think the juries under-rated it, and the public over-voted it because of political leanings.
Legitimately far better than the UK's utter garbage obviously. Last edited by Quantum Boy; 12-05-2024 at 10:26 PM. |

And I agree with you about Politics playing apart in the Juries decision to elect Switzerland the winner. And I do also agree that Croatia would've been a more interesting winner, but unfortunately it wasn't meant to be. Even though I must clarify that I did like Switzerland's song, I just think that Croatia's entry was more catchy.
