![]() If black people don't want to vote in general, then that's their choice.

This is not all as simple as it looks. People like me are completely fed up with politics, so while they may have expressed a preference in a poll, they may not bother voting. If the tory voters are more energised, they may still pull it off, because lets be honest, no-one really likes Starmer across the entire political landscape

I said a good while ago the Cons are good election winning machines. I've never myself believed the gap in the polls as they are still, is a hard support level or even correct. It still wouldn't be a great shock to me if it was a tiny majority for either Party. Or even a hung parliament. It's not impossible. I know from 2015 from what we as canvassers were told, that once in the polling booth, that past few seconds change of mind is a major element in voting. However, this is the first election out of the 4 I've canvassed in where the reception I and my team and the other teams are getting for Labour is much friendlier and welcoming. For the vast majority of people we have talked to, the main thing that vast majority want is this Con government OUT. There's no great love for Starmer, you are right but he's far preferred to Sunak. Softer support of the Cons from the last election, who are changing to Labour is because they have no fear that Labour will be as bad as this lot now. A lot of voters in 2019 weren't in the main voting for Johnson's Cons, they were voting against Corbyn. Politics is consistent at being inconsistent and predictable only as to being unpredictable. You make strong points in your post. However in canvassing this time, the real dislike is to this current Con leadership and government. That's the message I'm getting all the time and the desire to ensure this government is really gone this time. I've never had so many cups of tea or coffee offered to me in electioneering before. ![]() It's REALLY heartwarming. Far better than before where Cons and UKIP/ Brexit hard and firm supporters said my legs should be cut off to stop me canvassing for Labour. Or that all connected to Labour should all be piled into baths of acid. Charming. Last edited by joeysteele; 16-06-2024 at 07:54 PM. |

i think a lot of it has to do with the Labour "safe pair of hands" message they are favouring. There really won't be much change, and is it a big incentive to vote if the message is, we can't do anything because we don't have any money
![]() The last election was all about brexit because people were so fed up about it, but stirring up enthusiasm to vote this time round is going to be really difficult |
