My main plan is to watch some of The X Factor Seasons where I was too young to really form proper opinions of the performances.

I am back in the Singing Show mood thanks to American Idol.

I will also plan on doing some rewatches eventually, but I did do some of them not too long ago, so it's not an urgent matter for me.

I also might cover some other countries versions too, if I can find them in the land of the sea.

Anyway I'm starting with Season 2 of the UK version.

My rankings:

Live Show 1:
1. Maria Lawson - Emotion - She had the nicest sounding voice to my ears.
2. Brenda Edwards - Son Of A Preacher Man
3. Andy Abraham - Greatest Love Of All
4. Chenai Zinyuku - The Closest Thing To Crazy - Probably the most interesting song choice on the night. I dock a couple of points for sometimes she was sounding like she was singing through her nose, but for the most part I liked the performance.
5. Chico Slimani - Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?
6. Journey South - Something About The Way You Look Tonight
7. Nicholas Dorsett - On The Wings Of Love
8. Shayne Ward - Right Here Waiting
9. The Conway Sisters - SOS
10. Phillip Magee - Amazed - Interesting song choice, but ultimately sung badly imo.
11. Addictiv Ladies - Superstar - I honestly didn't think that anyone could sound worse on the night, until 4Tune came along.

1. Maria Lawson - Piece Of My Heart - Is her final placing in this Show satire from the public/the production? Imo she has the best vocal in the competition, absolutely crazy to think what ends up happening with her tbh.
2. Phillip Magee - Johnny B. Goode - A huge improvement, but unfortunately that week 2 performance was toxic which I'm guessing killed his vote going into this performance.
3. Andy Abraham - Unforgettable
4. Chico Slimani - Livin La Vida Loca - Ricky Martin should be jealous of the vocal from Chico on this song.
5. Journey South - Angel Of Harlem
6. Nicholas Dorsett - Let's Stay Together
7. Brenda Edwards - Midnight Train To Georgia
8. Chenai Zinyuku - Hero
9. Shayne Ward - Summer Of 69
10. The Conway Sisters - Total Eclipse Of The Heart

Live Show 4:
1. Maria Lawson - You're Beautiful
2. Journey South - The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face - Definitely my favourite performance from Journey South so far.
3. Chico Slimani - Kiss - What a vocal.
4. Chenai Zinyuku - Always On My Mind
5. Andy Abraham - Can't Take My Eyes Off You
6. Brenda Edwards - Somebody Else's Guy
7. The Conway Sisters - One Voice

2. Maria Lawson - Brown Sugar - It was her weakest performance, but I still enjoyed it personally.

5. Andy Abraham - I'll Make Love To You - Strange song choice for Andy imo.
6. Shayne Ward - Cry Me A River
7. The Conway Sisters - Hold On
8. Chico Slimani - Hero - Words can't even describe what I thought of this performance.

Live Show 6:
1. Chico Slimani - It's Chico Time
2. Andy Abraham - Me And Mrs. Jones
3. Shayne Ward - A Million Love Songs - Probably his best vocal so far imo.
4. Journey South - Angels
5. Brenda Edwards - Last Dance
6. Nicholas Dorsett - If I Ever Fall In Love
7. The Conway Sisters - One Moment In Time

Live Show 7:
1. Andy Abraham - I Have Nothing - I honestly didn't expect to put this performance anywhere near the top.
2. Brenda Edwards - I Will Always Love You
3. Shayne Ward - I Believe In A Thing Called Love - Not a bad effort imo.
4. The Conway Sisters - Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now - Probably their strongest performance tbh.
5. Journey South - I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For - Besides week 4, I feel like Journey South suffer from sounding too Karaoke, and considering this is a top 6 round, I do feel like their standards should be higher than it currently is.
6. Chico Slimani - Billie Jean

And I can't believe that Simon would say that a contestant "isn't sexy" on national TV.

Imo Brenda might not be as attractive as Maria or Chenai, but she's also not some hideous beast that I think Simon was making her out to look like.

And you can't win with Simon anyway because I remember during Season 6 of American idol, him attacking Haley for dressing "provocatively" to get men to vote for her.

Rant aside, I will be listening to the seventh Live Show in a few minutes, but first I have to listen to some good singing after hearing some of these contestants in Season 2.

Some of them are talented tbf, especially Maria.

I've heard That's My Goal loads of times in the past, so I'm not listening to it again.

Overall it was a topsy turvy kind of Season for me, I definitely liked some of the contestants, but some of the standard were shockingly bad even by X Factor bad acts standards imo.

Well I've listened to a few Live Shows of Season 3 of The X Factor UK.

I remember when I was a kid being a fan of Eton Road, so I was curious if adult me would feel the same way.

Also I was interested to see where I would fall on the Leona divide from back then.

Here's my rankings.

Live Show 1 - Motown:
1. Ashley McKenzie - Easy - I really liked this, he has a really unusual voice.
2. Leona Lewis - I'll Be There - I definitely like looking at Leona the most from this top 12.
3. Eton Road - My Girl
4. Ben Mills - The Tracks Of My Tears
5. Robert Allen - All Night Long
6. Dionne Mitchell - I'm Gonna Make You Love Me
7. The MacDonald Brothers - Three Times A Lady - Controversial opinion maybe, but whilst the performance had problems, I do feel there were way worse on the night that bizarrely didn't really get called out as much from the Show, but maybe my ears are playing me up.
8. The Unconventionals - Dancing In The Street
9. 4Sure - What Becomes Of The Brokenhearted
10. Nikitta Angus - Heaven Must Have Sent You
11. Kerry McGregor - You Are The Sunshine Of My Life - RIP, I honestly didn't want to do it, but I am not a very good liar on these things, so it's always best for me to tell the truth.

5. Robert Allen - Take A Chance On Me
6. Ashley McKenzie - The Winner Takes It All - Not Ashley's best.

8. Nikitta Angus - Dancing Queen - Nikitta's getting worse.

4. Ray Quinn - Jailhouse Rock - Tbf, this is probably Ray's most bearable performance so far.
5. Ben Mills - Your Song - Really didn't work for me.

Live Show 8 Round 1:
1. Leona Lewis - Could It Be Magic
2. Ben Mills - I Made It Through The Rain - It was nice to hear Ben sing a more unpredictable song for himself.
3. The MacDonald Brothers - Can't Smile Without You - Not their best effort imo.
4. Ray Quinn - Mandy - Ray is a much better Ice Skater imo.

Live Show 8 Round 2:
1. Leona Lewis - Without You
2. The MacDonald Brothers - Shang-A-Lang
3. Ben Mills - Somebody To Love
4. Ray Quinn - My Way - Tbh I freely admit to not being a Swing fan, but even I can tell that Frank Sinatra's version is way better in pretty much every department of what makes good Music. I really don't understand how this performance got hyped so much back then. Different tastes and all that I suppose.

Live Show 9 Round 1:
1. Leona Lewis - I Have Nothing - Imo it's been obvious for awhile that she is the best vocalist of her year.
2. Ben Mills - (Everything I Do) I Do It For You
3. Ray Quinn - Smile

Live Show 9 Round 2:
1. Leona Lewis - Over The Rainbow - I've heard my third really good Talent Show cover of this song lately, I hope that good fortune with this song keeps on coming.
2. Ray Quinn - You'll Never Walk Alone - I finally liked a Ray performance.
3. Ben Mills - I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For

I think that the talent pool is stronger overall than in Season 2 (although nobody is quite like Maria for me yet) but some of the voting is a bit questionable imo.

How on earth Nikitta and Ray have both got to the fifth Live Show without either of them touching the bottom two has got to become one of lifes greatest mysteries.

Live Show 2:

2. Verity Keays - Wind Beneath My Wings - I thought that it was much better than her travesty of a performance in Week 1, but clearly the public disagreed.
3. Voices With Soul - (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman
4. 2 To Go - Always - I don't think that they're that bad personally.
5. Rowetta Satchell - I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
6. G4 - Don't Look Back In Anger - I appreciate that they experimented with the song, but I just didn't like their version.
7. Cassie Compton - Without You - She sounded a bit flat to me.
8. Steve Brookstein - If You Don't Know Me By Now - I'm with Sharon controversially on him doing a faux Jamaican accent when his singing his songs, it doesn't sound natural to my ears. That's the best way I can put it.

Live Show 3:
1. Rowetta Satchell - Over The Rainbow - Another really good version of this song, and imo in a totally different league to the rest of this Season's performances so far, I for once in this Season really enjoyed a performance.
2. Tabby Callaghan - Addicted To Love
3. Steve Brookstein - Smile - It definitely suited him better than week 2's performance imo.
4. Voices With Soul - Bridge Over Troubled Water
5. Cassie Compton - I Say A Little Prayer - It was a bit of an awkward watch imo.
6. 2 To Go - (I've Had) The Time Of My Life - Just wasn't very good imo.
7. G4 - Hit Me Baby One More Time - Holy ****! That performance never stops shocking me in just how horrifying it is to listen to.

Live Show 4:
1. G4 - Circle Of Life
2. Voices With Soul - Lady Marmalade - Yep! I completely disagreed with the bottom two strongly on the night.
3. Tabby Callaghan - I Don't Want To Miss A Thing
4. Rowetta Satchell - MacArthur Park - Definitely a comedown from week 3 imo.

Admittedly this was the first year where I properly remember watching the Show as a kid.

I'm interested to know if my opinions on contestants have changed at all.

I know at the time that I remember liking Rhydian and Same Difference, and thinking that Andy was terrible.

But I am open minded to feeling differently as I am a lot older now, so maybe there's someone in the line-up that might win me over to their side, we shall see.

5. Alisha Bennett - Dreams - I actually thought that Alisha did okay personally.

8. Daniel DeBourg - Heaven - I couldn't get the full performance anywhere, so I just will have to base it off what I heard from the clips off the results show, and to me his vocal sounded really weak.
9. Andy Williams - I Don't Want To Talk About It - I didn't think that this performance would've avoided my bottom two after hearing it initially, but the other three happened.

11. Leon Jackson - Can't Buy Me Love

3. Leon Jackson - Dancing In The Moonlight - It was a fun number for Leon tbf.
4. Beverley Trotman - You're Beautiful - It felt very try hard to be Maria Lawson's version of the song imo.

I'm going to start from the top 12 round, as that's when the public were allowed to start voting.

Top 12 - American Anthems:

3. Melanie Amaro - Desperado

5. Chris Rene - Superstar - It was an interesting performance, despite imo being flawed.
6. Stacy Francis - Up To The Mountain
7. Marcus Canty - Nothing On You/Every Little Step - I would say that we start to take a considerable drop in quality from my personal top 6 on the night.
8. Rachel Crow - Walking On Sunshine
9. Drew - Just A Dream
10. InTENsity - Kids In America/Party Rock Anthem
11. The Stereo Hogzz - Rhythm Nation
12. Astro - Hip Hop Hooray/Get Ur Freak On - I was torn on who to place bottom between Astro and The Stereo Hogzz, but having a 15 year old rapping a PG version of Get Ur Freak On is just wrong on quite a few obvious levels.

Top 10 - "Rock":
1. LeRoy Bell - We've Got Tonite - Imo LeRoy knows how to use his voice the best, at least to my ears anyway.
2. Lakoda Rayne - Your Love/Go Your Own Way
3. Melanie Amaro - Everybody Hurts - Some of the notes towards the end were slightly oversung for my taste, but she is a strong vocalist in the competition.
4. Josh Krajcik - The Pretender - Josh has a good voice, but he did have issues with letting the Music drown his voice out during portions of the song.
5. Stacy Francis - It's All Coming Back To Me Now
6. Rachel Crow - (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction
7. Drew - With Or Without You - The cloning of Diana Vickers continues.
8. Chris Rene - No Woman No Cry/Everything's Gonna Be Alright - What a "Rock" mashup.
9. Marcus Canty - Piece Of My Heart Another "Rock" number.
10. Astro - I'll Be Missing You - There's nothing quite so special as having Astro rapping about "loving Hip Hop, and wanting to bring it back" on Rock night.

Wow! I would say that the judges very clearly got three sing-off decisions out of four very wrong imo, especially the Diamond White and David Correy eliminations were completely absurd from what I heard from those sing-off rounds.

And as it's a sing-off and Sister C were the better singers, the decision should've been very clear imo.

Tbh I am glad that this Season is done with tbh, the talent overall weren't very good imo, and it had to have the dullest final that I have possibly ever seen for a singing Show, as there weren't (imo) one single brilliant performance in that final.

Tbh TXF USA probably got cancelled due to the first two Seasons failing to produce any (and I do mean) any iconic performances that will genuinely live on with fans of Talent Shows.

I will check the Third Season out someday, but I will have to detox for awhile after this garbage.
