Default The Range making stores dog-friendly…

…Tilly barks yes as she likes to shop her home wares etc…?…

Shoppers divided as The Range makes big change to stores…

The Range has announced that it's making all of its stores dog friendly, but the move has angered some shoppers.

While many have welcomed the news and say it will make life easier being able to take their pooch into the store, others aren't happy.

Reacting to the announcement on the retailer's Facebook page, some shoppers have said it's unfair on those who are allergic to the animals.

And others have said the company should be addressing other issues, like making stores more wheelchair friendly.

"Whilst this is fantastic news it would be really good if your stores could be more disabled and wheelchair friendly," said one shopper. "Trying to navigate your stores with a wheelchair is pretty challenging. Narrow aisles and stuff piled up everywhere doesn’t help."

"That's my custom gone!" said another. "Whilst people are celebrating the news, some people that medically cannot be around furry animals are now yet again excluded from going out and shopping. Why a dog has to be taken to go to shops is totally beyond me! It seems to be a stuff the serious allergy sufferers approach."

But others have welcomed the change, which has already been implemented in the 200 plus stores.

"This is fantastic," said one. "My dog has separation anxiety (medication & behavioural sessions didn't work) so we haven't been able to go to The Range in years, can't wait to have a mooch."

Another said: "Great, some dogs are better behaved than some people."

In its announcement on Wednesday, The Range said: "We have some pawsome news to share... Our stores are now DOG FRIENDLY.

"That's right, we're now welcoming four legged furry shoppers in our 200+ stores nationwide & perfect timing! Our Pet Event is on in-stores today for you to ‘fetch’ incredible deals across pet supplies! RUN, do not walk!"

It says dogs must be on a lead at all times, they must be well behaved and not disturb other customers and 'owners must clean up after your dog if necessary, and be mindful of their surroundings."

The company that owns The Range also owns Wilko, which was the first such retailer to start allowing dogs back in 2022.

The move forms part of both brands’ ongoing commitment to creating a more inclusive and enjoyable shopping experience for all customers.

To celebrate the news, the stores are running special pet-focused deals, including over 40% off selected food items and discounted treats on toys, essentials and items such as a pet pushchairs.

CDS Superstores said: “The retailers are both committed to supporting pet owners in caring for their animals, and this new policy is just one of the many ways in which they’re working to enhance the shopping experience.”

Tilly loves Pets at Home obviously, although strangely they leave dog treats unwrapped on lower shelfs

She also likes Homebase
