[The arts are critical to all our lives.
They bolster our economy,
create communities, and bring us joy.
They help us to empathise, reflect and
express ourselves.
Every time we listen to music,
watch TV, go to a theatre or read a book,
the arts are there for us.

The inaugural Sky Arts Awards will be hosted by
comedian, activist, presenter, painter and
the nation’s appointed Mummy, Joe Lycett,
taking place on Tuesday 17 September
at The Roundhouse and airing at 9pm on
Sky Arts and Freeview.]

Great Venue The Roundhouse

[The Roundhouse is a performing arts and
concert venue situated at the Grade II
listed former railway engine shed
in Chalk Farm, London, England.
The building was erected in 1846–1847
by the London & North Western Railway
as a roundhouse, a circular building
containing a railway turntable,
but was used for that purpose for
only about a decade.
After being used as a warehouse for
a number of years, the building fell into
disuse just before World War II.
It was first made a listed building in 1954.]
