So-that you don’t step on anything/allow your shoes come into contact with visible dirt? Or are you not arsed?

My reasons for low-key keeping one eye on the floor are more to do with concerns about the cleanliness of the floor and not trying to dirty my shoes when I can help it. That’s where I was kinda coming from with this thread, but thinking about it there obviously are a ton of reasons why someone might prefer to look ahead when they’re walking.

Same. Occasionally I trip going upstairs, fortunately we live in a bungalow so it's not a problem at home

Yes. Not out of cautiousness, it's more just a conveniently useful byproduct of growing up shy and lacking in confidence and never really shaking the habit, even now when I've mostly grown out of those social impairments.

I was just thinking about this the other day when out walking, saying to myself you need to start looking straight ahead when walking rather than down. I however, always come to the conclusion that looking ahead all wide eyed whilst walking must make you look weird to passers by.
