Default Tesco Supermarket Evacuated

From Sky News

A Tesco supermarket has been closed following the discovery of a suspicious package, police have said.

A controlled explosion has been carried out at the store in the Eastville area of Bristol.

A police spokesman said it had been "a precaution" to call a bomb disposal team.

Police had set up a 400 metre cordon around the Tesco supermarket in Eastgate Street following the discovery of a suspicious package, the spokesman said.

"The package was reported to police at 7.45am," he added.

At the weekend, 14 Tesco stores across Britain were closed during a security alert.

All of the stores have now reopened and a criminal investigation has been launched.

The trading giant refused to give details about the security threat but police urged shoppers to remain vigilant.

Witnesses claimed they were told of a bomb scare, while reports ranged from a financial motive to threats by the animal rights lobby.

The alert closed stores in Dyfed Powys in Wales, Fife and Strathclyde in Scotland, Lancashire, Suffolk, Leicestershire, Humberside, Herefordshire, West Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and London.

The people behind the Tesco bomb scares at the weekend were not terrorists but criminals after millions of pounds, says the Daily Mirror.

Is this another incident separate from the 14 closed at the weekend?

Could possibly be a copycat case.
