Exclamation Jeff Bezos orders Washington Post to shift to the RIGHT

Jeff Bezos orders Washington Post to support ‘free markets and personal
liberties’

Billionaire owner fuels fears of editorial interference following Trump’s election

Jeff Bezos has ordered The Washington Post to support “personal liberties
and free markets” in a major shake-up of the Left-leaning newspaper. It has always been a Democrat paper.

The billionaire Amazon founder, who bought The Washington Post for $250m
in 2013, has drawn scrutiny by claiming it would no longer publish any
viewpoints opposing these two principles.

In a note to staff, Mr Bezos said: “I’m confident that free markets and
personal liberties are right for America.

“I also believe these viewpoints are underserved in the current market of
ideas and news opinion. I’m excited for us together to fill that void.”

David Shipley, the veteran opinion editor of The Washington Post, has
stepped down in the wake of the overhaul. The newspaper is now searching
for his successor.

In his note on Wednesday, Mr Bezos wrote: “There was a time when a
newspaper, especially one that was a local monopoly, might have seen it as a
service to bring to the reader’s doorstep every morning a broad-based
opinion section that sought to cover all views. Today, the internet does that job.

I couldn't say either way, I wasn't reading it, but he's now specifically stating that they won't. It's an odd choice for a supposed news source... To openly declare their bias.

not really. Like any rich bugger with a lot of wealth to lose, he is trying to protect his own interests. Think on the fact that Elon, one of his biggest rivals, now has control to see exactly how Bezos businesses are doing and can direct the law to get in his way. His rival can now ruin him, and that's not an exaggeration

Nobody wants them shifting to the right or left. Just be neutral and truthful. That's what the people want.

It sounds to me like he just wants to replace one form of propaganda with another.

That's not going to happen while news sources (including social media platforms) are allowed to be owned by billionaires.
