Default killing animals on telly

im not a vegeterian (infact i could just eat a big mac right now), but why do they need to show animal deaths on telly? like when charlotte the lamb got killed, or when gavin and co got killed (off the F word), and now, on that river cottage, they just killed a bird and they are eating bulls bolloks! why do they show that because its nasty!, poor little animals

Some of the things I have seen on The F Word leave a lot to be desired!

People who cannot watch an animal get slaughtered and then are willing to eat meat without a second thought are very hypocritical. Shows like the f word open peoples' eyes and make them realise where their food comes from. The animals featured on the f word live a far more happy and fulfilling life than the factory farmed animals whose meat you buy in the supermarket.

I really don't see it like that. I eat meat, but I don't want to see it killed. In the same way should I have to watch a program about live operations before I have one?

This is the same tired argument that is trawled up by veggos from time to time.

Should I also watch a documentary on the suffering of field workers in the third world, working their fingers to the bone for a pittance so I can enjoy my asparagus tips with a light drizzle of self righteousness?

I know where meat comes from, I am not stupid. But I pay for the privilege of someone doing the hard work for me. I am happy with that.

I just think it's ignorant to enjoy eating meat yet are not willing to see how the animal ends up on your plate.

I have already said I know exactly how it ends up on my plate. I know about bolts, throat slitting (Halal and non), stunning, and so on.

Do you know exactly how your computer is put together and works? Yet you still
use one and enjoy it?

The shoes you are wearing. There is a 95% chance they were made in China, by under paid, over worked and under represented migrants. Do you understand the systems and economies of scale that get those shoes designed,
made, packed, transported half way round the word, got to the shops, and displayed so you can buy them for Ł20 and "enjoy" them. Well I hope you do.
Would not want you feeling ignorant and all that.

Many supermarkets have meat which is from animals which have been very cruelly treated and brutally slaughtered. This meat tends to be the cheaper meat and what choices have you got if all you can afford is the cheaper meat?

I have a fantastic butcher who actually is not that expensive and thinks he is a star because he was recently on BBC2 on a show comparing Sainsbury's with buying from local shops. Of course he was better! I know I might pay a little bit more but I know I can ask him where the meat comes from and he can tell me the history of it and how all he buys has been treated with some sort of respect before it is killed.

I am an ex vegetarian. I became a vegi when I was 14 and stopped when I was 23 and pregnant with my daughter. I was craving raost pork and nothing stopped the craving accept roast pork! The reason I became a vegi all those years ago was because of the unfair treatment of animals and that treatment is STILL happening yet we choose to put blinkers on.
I do not feel any guilt about eating meat anymore because my body obviously was in need of something which any that roast pork could provide? (I also craved tomatoes and oranges but not all together)

I do think that something needs to be done about the way animals are treated but alas if cheap farming methods produce cheap meat and there will always be a need for that.

All types of murder are cruel no matter how you dress it up.

Spitfire, I take it you have never been pregnant.

Just a thought,

"All types of murder are cruel no matter how you dress it up."

Yet you proudly name your self after a very efficient killing machine.

Stu,

"Old cliche , I know , but nobody is forcing you to watch it!!! "

I know, but I was being called ignorant for not watching it. So my reply was pointing out that if they enjoy anything they best get genned up on it before they start throwing accusations about.

Oh, it's nice to see another Mode fan about.

When I eat a lovely Lamb Chop or a Steak or a Roast Beef sandwich, all I think of, is, how delicious and lovely it tastes

I am virtually "Carnivorous", (Meat-Eater) + Chips, of course

I don't wish to see the animal die, before I eat a part of it's body Who really does???

I don't think about that either.

What I will say, to anyone who is panicking like mad over animals which are killed, so we can eat them.

Well, when you go to a Butchers or Supermarket and you see all that meat for sale. Just imagine what happens to all that unsold meat which sadly goes out-of-date and has to be thrown away, as they have to keep to strict standards of practise?

All those animals which die needlessly, due to unsold meat.

So, the point I am choosing to make, is, that the animals are killed and then, the shops hope to sell the meat to the customers.

The animals get killed anyway, regardless of critics who panic & panic about it.

I love "Meat" and I shall always eat it, so nevermind those vegies who moan. Go chew a carrot

The killing of animals for meat,is done at the request, through market demand and with the financial support of the customers.Obviously nodisharmony the fewer people that eat meat the fewer animals that have to be murdered. Therefore even fewer will die needlessly.

May i add im not one of those tree hugging veggies.

I agree Spitfire, that if a LOT more people ate LESS meat, there would be less killings of animals over time.

But I love meat and hate vegatables, so for me,"Meat" is a must...

It can't be changed and won't be changed!

It is better to accept defeat on this debate...........

Carnivores rule okay
