Not surprised. Watching the Tories and Labour lurch from one disastrous idea to another is a masterclass in what not to do.

Giving freebies back to the old people who can afford not to get it? Typical of him and his lot

How do YOU know who can and can't afford it? Better spend it on our elderly who've contributed to this country than some middle-eastern illegal who's just landed.

Id be happy to pay a bit more tax for the pensioners, and to have a HUGE asylum centre built next door to your house.

Why not means test it then give a bit more to pensioners who aren't multi millionaires or billionaires.

Why pay it to everyone of pensionable age including those with massive wealth.
However he knows this won't be even necessary to be a policy at the next election in 2029.
Whatever the rights or wrongs of the policy, the matter will be well and truly addressed before any around August 2029 general election.
Still 4 YEARS and 3 months away

I've never agreed with it being paid to ALL of pension age, immaterial of wealth.

Why not means test everything for everyone? Especially those who've not paid into the system for half a century. Our pensioners are already some of the lowest paid in Europe.

Sorry, I don't think those with multi millions as to wealth should be getting £200/£300 a year to help with heating.
It wouldn't buy them a bottle of the wine they like.
They don't need it whatsoever.
There's honestly no comparison to some pensioners with next to no savings and only the pension possibly with a works pension too.
With those who have multi millions of wealth.

Plus I'm not against means testing of the benefits system across the board.
However if anyone has nothing or next to nothing, they'll need the means tested help anyhow.

It's actually a scandal that the UK has some of the lowest paid in Europe.
Who in ANY government listens to that though.

Farage is very clever he is saying all the right things, whether or not he will pull a fast one if he gets power like Labour and says there is a black hole something something and reverse lots of these popular policies is another question, he says he will fund it by closing Asylum hotels, great but where are they going to go?

As an aside Denmark raised its retirement age to 70 this week, bet Starmer and Reeves are champing at the bit to implement that rise
