Gerry is a well-oiled quiz machine...

Big Brother called Gerry to the Diary Room to test his knowledge on grease in return for some grog for the House. Not Greece. Grease. In all its many forms.

"Big Brother is going to set you a quiz," said Big Bro, as Gerry settled into the chair.

"I'm very good at that," he said approvingly. "Especially if it's history, art, politics..." That's not quite what Big Brother had in mind.

"Big Brother's quiz is all about grease."

"Great. I'm very patriotic. I know so much stuff about my country. I will perform very well," he assured.

"Do you have a strong knowledge of grease?" pressed Big Brother.

"Yes. You can take the boy out of the country but you can't take the country out of the boy," he nodded.

Big Brother's first question was about John Travolta, who played Danny in the movie Grease. And then the oleaginous penny dropped.

"Oh you must be kidding me. Grease the musical?" he said mock-sobbing. "I know all the songs but I've never watched it."

"This is for four bottles of cider."

"Brian is gonna kill me. What about the country Greece, not Grease the musical," he pleaded. But Big Brother was off.

"When baking a Christmas cake, Delia Smith recommends wrapping the tin with brown paper before greasing it. What football team does Delia Smith support?"

"Norwich. I know that!" he squeaked.

"A grease gun is a commonly used tool to lubricate machinery..." began Big Brother.

"I do wake up every morning and ask where is my grease gun. What's the next question?"

"Spell the word Greece."

"The country or the musical? It's different pronunciation," he asked, before wrapping up that one correctly.

"Sophocles is a Greek playwright. His work includes Oedipus Rex, a tragedy. Tragedy was a 1979 hit single for which hairy trio?"

"How can you bring Sophocles into this?" he laughed. "Tragedy was a single by the Bee Gees and it was also done in the 1990s by Steps! That's my final answer," he said, clapping.

Wrapping up the quiz, Gerry scooped a healthy bunch of booze for his housemates. Gerry - you're grease lightening.
