Listen to the meaning of the song?
Or just like the beat?

Or do you just have songs on in the background

I do all 3. Listening to a song for the first time I just listen to the beat, then after a few listens I'll hear the lyrics, and then automatically consider the meaning of the song when taking both the beat and the lyrics into account.

Sometimes I'll have songs on in the background but I always end up singing to them, so thats never good.

with me I usually like a song straight away or it takes me a while to get into a song then i either really love it. i usually listen to the melody most or the beat

It usually takes me a couple of listens to know the whole of the lyrics to the song so mainly the beat and the chorus to start with but the lyrics and meaning come in time.

all 4 lol it takes while for me to understand what the songs about... like umbrella i was like EHH? at first then i realised its a metaphor.. but whatever.. haha
