Brussels Airport said a cyber attack was causing
the disruption, as it confirmed 10 flights had been
cancelled and 17 flights were experiencing delays
of more than one hour.]

Assuming it is ransomeware, why don't they just pay the ransome?

Because once you've. Paid the ransom, they'll be back time and again and you'll be paying forevermore. Spend that money on cyber security, imo, of course...
