Seems pointless even releasing this as a "news story" when it's just going to lead to speculation about tens, if not hundreds of innocent parties. But that's the tabloids for you.

It led to a very uncomfortable situation among the Arsenal fanbase with Thomas Partey because you had large portions of it actively campaigning for the club to release him and let him face the music, and then others arguing it hadn't gone to trial, innocent until proven guilty, etc. I'm glad we're finally rid of him but it was a large stain on the club.

Only other times I can recall a superinjunction being ignored/ circumvented was with Gylfi Sigurdsson, and even then after all that furore I think he ended up being released without charge (once his career was effectively over). Of course if this is a retired player then that shouldn't be an issue.
