A tabloid-y mega thread about celebrity rumors might not be be a bad thread to have and it will go off rails at times, I'm sure, but it'd be great for bringing up new discussion. There are times I want to talk about the latest nutjob but I don't really have the emotional space to dedicate a whole thread to it because I don't have time to research all the things that had happened around that person... I just wanna be able to post something and be like "Is this crazy or not? Is this a thing?"
