[Wes Streeting is reportedly preparing to resign as Health Secretary and trigger
a Labour leadership contest against Sir Keir Starmer as soon as tomorrow. Allies of Mr Streeting said he was “going to go for it” after he met the Prime Minister at Downing Street for just 16 minutes this morning. TELEGRAPH] Above Text By CD poster He is gay This should not normally be an issue. But the Saudi Leader may not want to shake his hand. Last edited by arista; 20-05-2026 at 05:22 PM. |

Well that's a problem for the Saudi Leader and his ridiculous, despicable and wrong prejudice.
However I'm not sure IF Wes Streeting was to challenge Starmer and Starmer stood in the election too. That Streeting would actually beat him.. There's a lot of opposition among Labour MPs as to Streeting and the membership aren't very keen on him either. I actually like Wes but.... I can see a similar problem still in play or worse next year if he is seeming to fail to turn things around. Oh I've no doubt Wes Streeting will be more vocal, more forceful in presentation of policies which will match easily Farage's and Polanski's ramblings too. However I can also see possibly as much dissatisfaction with Streeting in a year or so as is evident with Starmer now. For me I'd prefer any day of the week Andy Burnham. I don't like her as a politician.
However Kemi Badenoch in parliament right now is giving an incredible barnstorming speech. Really superb. |

Remembering Kerry

What an absolute mess and also confusing.
It's no good for starters that Angela Raynor could stand while her tax issue is still not decided on. As for the rumours of Miliband, he has to be joking surely. He took Labour to it's 3rd worst election result in 2015. As for Streeting, this could backfire on him. He's not that popular with a good number of MPs, nor members. While he probably could win, there's another matter arising, Andy Burnham. Andy Burnham. IF as is reported there's an MP willing to stand down as an MP, to try to help him get back into parliament. What will be the point of Streeting taking on Starmer before Burnham is back in parliament. ( If he wins a by election that is). Because if Streeting won against Starmer. Once Andy Burnham was back in parliament, MPs, members and Unions would prefer Andy to Streeting. So Wes Streeting could find himself undermined, with moves to bring him down then. Just as is the scenario with Starmer now. What an almighty mess. Then too, what if Streeting challenged Starmer then Starmer was to possibly beat him. That's not an impossible scenario.
