NATIONAL TREASURES

Aug 18 2007

by Hannah Jones, Western Mail

BBC Two Wales, Tuesday, 7.30pm

IN the penultimate instalment of National Treasures former international rugby player Gareth Edwards, BBC Radio Wales presenter Owen Money, TV presenter Josie D’Arby and Big Brother 2006 runner-up Glyn Wise are campaigning to get the nation to vote for their national treasure.

Josie D’Arby’s national treasure reminds her of good times spent gathered around an open fire – chatting and cooking. Her chosen treasure, however, is a lot more sophisticated than your average barbeque. She’s backing the ‘firedog’, an intricate and intriguing artefact dating back thousands of years.

Its craftsmanship is unequalled in the whole of Europe and Josie explores the mystery that surrounds it. From its spiritual to practical uses she visits St Fagan’s to learn more from the experts.
