Creepy Corrie stalker Kevin Sedgwick has pledged to stop plaguing the soap - but says he may pester Emmerdale stars instead.

The convicted paedophile defied a police warning to stay away from the Coronation Street studios last week.

But last night loner Sedgwick, 49, exclusively told The People: "I'm going to stop going there now and it's a shame because they'll all miss me.

"But I've been over to Yorkshire to see the cast of Emmerdale. They were lovely."

Sedgwick was banned from the Granada-owned set in Manchester for five years in 2000. Incredibly, the fantasist claimed he only went back on two days last week because actor William Roache, 75 - the Street's Ken Barlow - begged to see him. Sedgwick said: "William Roache was asking after me apparently.

"All the stars were always pleased to see me and I think they liked me being around.


"Especially William Roache, he really likes me. He's a good friend of mine, Ken, an absolute thorough gentleman.


"Great actor, and when I was banned from going there he was worried about me and was always asking where I was."


Sedgwick was first banned after a terrifying campaign of harassment against former Corrie babe Tracy Shaw, 34 - Maxine Peacock. He attempted to grab and kiss her in the street and bombarded her with love letters. He also sent Beverly Callard, 50 - blonde landlady Liz McDonald - a pair of scissors in the post.


Last week we spotted him loitering around the studio gates waiting for a string of new cast members who were unaware of his seedy background.


The scruffy bachelor hung about until after 9pm, posing as an eager autograph hunter.


Sexy actress Kym Ryder, 31 - barmaid Michelle Connor - was approached as she drove through the gates.


Clueless about his past, she smiled as he took a photograph of her and asked for her auto graph. He also stopped Alison King, 34, who plays Carla Connor, and Vicky Binns, 25, better known as Molly Compton.


On Wednesday, he travelled back to the studios wearing a baseball cap, jogging pants and scruffy coat.


He asked for a signature from Samia Smith, 25 - hairdresser Maria Sutherland - and leaned threateningly inside her car window to speak to her.


Sedgwick was jailed for 18 months in 2000 for child sex offences. He admitted bouncing kiddies on his knee and getting aroused.


Several children are present on the Corrie set, including seven-year-old twins Amy and Emily Walton who both play Bethany Platt, and tot Amber Chadwick, three, who plays Amy Barlow.


Sedgwick makes the 15-mile journey to the studios by bus from his home in Atherton, Lancs. He told us: "It's only a hobby of mine but now it's going to have to stop. I'm going to have to find a new hobby.


"In a way what I have been doing has not been a very good hobby because it keeps getting me in trouble."


Disturbingly, however, he confessed: "It's not just Granada I go to, it's lots of different places."


And in what could turn out to be bad news for Emmerdale, he admitted having a lovely time on his visit to the Yorkshire set.


In Manchester, engineers were installing new CCTV cameras last week on the walls outside the TV studio gates.


A studio source added: "The fact he is back means the current crop of female cast members will have to be on their guard."
