If my best mate of 7 years, a care free, laid back lad is now saying "I'll not be able to come out anymore, as I'm going to college next week. I'll be verrrrrrrrrrrry busy all the time."
surely no one can be so busy that they can never come out ever again? lol. He's not the only one saying it either, I've seen some forum posters on other forums asking mods to cancel their accounts as they'll be to busy to post anything till they finish college. Is it really that hectic , are they overestimating it or plain nuts

Only time it's busy in 6th form is around exam time.

Otherwise it's just lots of parties and socialising.

Haha, but seriously - there's only a few busy times (Coursework and Exam time, thats REALLY busy). But 6th form was the best time of my life thus far.

God I can't belive someone says the 6th form is busy. When I've been in England last november, my english exchange was in 6th form and he did nothing at all...9am to 3am and no homeworks !

That does depend on the 6th form to be fair. My friend went to a 6th form and got no homework, AT ALL!

You are lucky Lauren because I got more, I work from 8am to midnight everynight. Just the English school system is completely different and less busy than the french one. We have more school hours than a worker, as 39 hours in sixth form.

In the UK 6th form is extra qualifications, its not really 'school' you don't 'need' to go to it. Thats why its laid back.

Yes I know it's only if you want to go to the university but it's really easy, what they do is what I've done 2 years ago that's unbeliveable.

I got a lot of free time when I was in 6th, other than the coursework and exam time you don't really have too much to do and there are free periods.I rarely got given homework to do and even when I did get it the teachers weren't half fussed if didn't do it.

6th form is much more relaxed as opposed to school. Although college is that bit more relaxed, you still get a lot more independence in 6th form and tend to be treated more like an adult by teachers. In that respect, there’s not an awful lot of pressure or stress.

I did get homework, but often you find that some teachers are more strict than others – that just depends upon luck, I guess. You get free time and free periods, and, depending on the school rules, can go home once lessons are over etc. Exam pressure just depends really on the way you go about things.

You can either spread it out and party/work systematically throughout the two years... as some of my friends did. Or, you can use my method and just do no work the first year, then end up doing 2 years’ worth in one.

Either way, it’s not constant stress.

But I've read through some of the papers and resources for A-LEVEL geography and geology and it looks waaaaay hard.

I'm from France, so I can say how is our sixth form compared to yours. Just feel lucky because what's happening in sixth form for you doesn't hapen in other countries.

I'm not sure what you mean. There are some sixth forms in the UK (not just England by the way) who do the International Baccalaureate Diploma, and A-Levels are just as hard if not harder than the French Bac. A-levels give more depth, the Baccalaureate more breadth.

The French Baccalaureate has been declared as the "hardest exam among all the final exams". I know what the international Baccalaureate is as my exchange (one among the 7 lol) is doing it. If I was you I won't be stressed because our exams last 4 hours each. English people were shocked when I said that, they didn't belive me "what ? 4 hours on the same chair ? it's impossible !"
And we pass it in 2 parts, ladt year and the year who is coming because if we do it in one year it would have been impossible !

IB is definitely harder in terms of breadth of knowledge, there's no mistaking that.

Although Remy, quite a few exam days had me sitting in the same chair for 6 hours at a time, LOL (I was very unlucky with my exam timetable!).

Indeed.
Although IB exams are harder because you need to learn SO many things - A Level gives you more knowledge in terms of understanding because you can't just learn, you need to know depth.

Overall, among the 3 years of College, we run 15 exams. I made the comparison and I can truly said there is a big difference between us and Britain.
