Jonty first out, then Carole, then Ziggy, then Liam - exactly according to betting trends. Only two remain. But it's the battle between first and second that determines whether I am rich or poor tomorrow. With a stack of money riding on this, the twins will make or break me.
Fingers crossed and arse-cheeks clenched...... |

No hard feelings, though it cost me a lot. All credit to the boy. If the twins couldn't win, then I'm glad it was Brian. He was mint.
Extraordinary result, though, completely at odds with betting trends. However, I had the presence of mind to keep clocking the bookies in the last hour. The betting rush on Brian started at about the time of the first evictions. From that time the bookies were closing up shop one by one, and by the time the announcement came, there were only two left . but I took down the odds offered by those still trading. Between 10.00 pm and 10.23 (just after the announcement) the average odds on the twins went up from 1.2 to 1.45, and those on Brian went down from 3.2 to 2.45. That's a huge switch in just 20 minutes, and it tells me that the security at Endemol was not what it should have been. Punters got wind of the voting figures, and massive amounts of money went down on Brian. And that, I think, was the reason the bookies were closing down before the results were in. They knew someone had inside info. |

So were the twins over priced giving the illusion they were more popular than they were or was there a Tsunami style late surge?
The only other idea is that their perceived lead at the bookies lead to a stay at home vote. Did reality have a temporary leave of absence? |

The twins were certainly over-priced. 1.15 was ridculously short. I thought that even at the time. Once they went below 1.5 (which I thought was about right) I put it down to gamblers' fever, punters creating their own bandwagon. But 1.5 is still low enough to signify a clear win. What is certain is that the sudden swing of money in the last half hour was the result of inside information. And the bookies sussed that quickly, and brought down the shutters. By 10.15 pm there were only two still trading, No doubt there'll be post-mortems, and accusations flying around. Questions might be asked not only about Endemol's security but also about the way votes are collected and counted.
If you're looking for more innocent explanations, it would have to be complacency on the part of Twins supporters who didn't vote. I can't think of anything else. Only two days ago there was a rough poll taken of the BBLB audience which showed 1/2 supporting twins, 1/3 supporting Brian. Obviously you can't take that as being an accurate sample of the population, but I wouldn't expect it to be as unrepresentative as it apparently was. To reflect the final result, what it would mean is that half of that audience would have had to switch their votes from Twins to Brian. I can think of no reason at all why that would have happened in only two days. The poll on this forum was just as emphatically in favour of the Twins. For what it's worth, I think there would have been a small swing towards Brian, based on nothing more than a good performance in the "Story of the House" sketches. But nothing like what we got. I don't believe there was a big swing towards Brian. I still think even now that there are more Twins supporters. Explanations lie elsewhere. |

I did wonder if some of the bookies, would have tasked their staff with phoning the Brian line, in order to prevent a big loss.
If they did do that would that have been fair play on the bookies. I have no proof whatsoever this happened before anyone picks up this conspiracy theory and runs with it. |

the bookies would of paid out about £6/7 million if twins won so they probably spent £1 million on voting for brian

In other words a fake voting regime and a fake winner. BB as a competition means nothing now.... If CH4 don't try and do a fix by brainwashing bias for one contestant then voters try and fix by mass multiple voting and if the theory is corrct bookmakers try a fix by multiple voting which housemate suits them to win....... Summary. All in all one b****y fix....... |
