Default there are some nasty people about

there are really some nasty folks about!!

after going to hospital on friday for my treatment as normal I returned to find my house broken into!!

missing my newish laptop some cigs and a mobile

I'm at present trying my best to go on the net via my tower comp but its painfull sitting at the desk - but at least when I got the new laptop I added it to the insurance as a seperate item!

the locks have been changed the mobiles sim card has been canceled etc but why do I need to go through all this and what if they come back again! as they broke in via the kitchen window so all the locks and chains were no good!

Josh was devistated and Richard (Alex's dad) was furious lol

Sorry to hear about this As someone who's been burgled myself I know what you mean. It happened years ago now in 93 but it's still bad. We arrived back at 3.00am from Tenerife to find the bloody place ransacked. I could have killed em, they knicked the telly the video and had the bloody cheek to put all the stuff in the car and swiped that as well. We got the car back minus the battery of course after they'd dumped it. The really weird thing to come out of it was when the Police came around my brother knew the girl on the other end of the radio. because she recognised our name. It wasn't the best time to catch up on old friends. The copper told her there's two blokes standing here with tans that are now as white as sheets. Don't you just love the Police's dark sense's of humour. It must have looked funny, I can laugh now but at the time I wasn't bloody amused.

That's awful Paul, life just isn't fair sometimes is it.

I hope you manage to get your stuff back (not much hope I know) or at least something decent from the insurance. I know that isn't the point though, the inconvenience and the horrid feeling of people being in your house and going through your things is something that compensation can never really put right.

I'm sorry Paul. It hasn't happened to me, fingers crossed, thankgoodness, although all of my neighbours seems to have been burgled at some time. I have an alarm, but if they want to get in, they will.

Both of my sons have been burgled, at the time when they were in student houses. My youngest lost his 21st birthday presents after only 3 days.

My eldest son came home to his alarmed and window grilled house in Leeds to find they had simply pick-axed the door, smashed the alarm, and taken everything he possessed, including his clothes and bedding. The only thing they left behind was a Terence Trent D'Arby cd and and Erasure 12". Obviously knew what they didn't like!

My car was nicked once, and after I got it back minus radio but otherwise intact, I had to get rid of it. I felt dirty sitting in it.

Poor you. No compensation Paul, but at least you are OK, that's what's important!

What a nightmare Paul. Our sympathies are with you - I know it won't feel the same in the house now, but hold onto the fact that you are a better person than the prats who broke in and don't let them get you down!

At least you were not in when they were, since self defence is ilegal.

Remember burglars must be protected from the public is one of the reasons Tony Martin was kept inside.

Ergo, burgalry has now been decriminalised and self defence is a henous crime

So sorry to hear your news.

My mum was burgled a few months ago. She is in her late 70s and some snotty kid was actually half way up the stairs when she came out to go to the bathroom. Luckily she has an alarm round her neck which she set off. Frightened the little so and so out of his skin. He took her engagement ring that my dad (no dead) gave her and other jewellery that he gave her. She's moved since cos she was frightened to be alone in the house.
