Under 18 and under the knife?
A BBC 3 documentary about body image follows two 17 year old girls who want to get cosmetic surgery in the U.S. where there are no age restrictions. But first they need permission from their parents and family. This programme takes the two girls on a journey into the world of cosmetic surgery, will the girls still want it at the end of it? will they be able to convice their parents? Discuss, here! (on now). |

They're so lucky!!
I would actually go right now to have surgery if I could. I can't afford it though. I don't see the problem with them having it if that's what they want. I think there should be a minimum age of 16 though in every country though, unless it is cosmetic surgery which is for someone who's been in an accident, I think that's fine. Just put the programme on. |

I think it's completely fine, if they have the money and are willing to pay for it then they should be free to do it.
I got my ears pinned back a few years ago, although it's not on the same scale as tummy tucks, boob jobs etc, it's still surgery to change the way you look and yet, everyone seems to be fine with that. |

I could understand if someone was absolutley hideous, and needed it to even go out on the street without being stared at and ridiculed then it would be okay. But I don't think their doing it because it's neccessary, but out of vanity and isn't it funny how the 2 people supporting surgery here have DPs of women who have had it and that are basically made out of plastic.

Bump!
So what did everyone think of that? Personally I think Lindsay's breasts looked so un-natural and fake after the surgery. I'm a heterosexual man, and I think I can safely say on behalf of all the men of this forum that if your as pretty as she is, then your breasts really shouldn't matter. |

Victoria's had a boob job, she's had nothing else done, I personally think she's gorgeous and everyone has their own idea of beauty and if people want surgery to look beautiful (in their own terms). I'm 17, and like I said before, I would go now if it was offered to me. I believe I'm old enough and mature enough to make decisions about my body. |

I watched about 30 minutes of it and I found it absolutely disgusting. Why someone would really want someone to do that to their body I will not understand. Like the girl who wanted liposuction and a tummy tuck, yes I understand the girl who had it because of the excess skin from pregnancy, but the girl from Britain, like her father said, she didn't try to lose the weight normally, which costs considerably less and even though it takes longer, it's better for you, you don't have to go through weeks of pain.
I'll never have any sort of cosmetic surgery, even though it may boost a persons confidence, I still don't think your body should be changed like that, and if a person really wanted the surgery, should at least wait till they were in their 20's when they can make a proper, mature, adult decision about this, at 16/17 they are still not adults and may regret what they did in later life. |
