Default Why dont \'The United Kingdom\' (Feat. Wales, Soctland and NI) ever win at Eurovision?

We didnt win at The song contest nor the dance contest.

Is it a conspiracy that all the small countries such as, Serbia, ukraine etc, vote for each other as they used ot be one country?

I think it could be one big theory to not let England win anything.

What do you think?

Bloc voting, I'm afraid.

I don't particularly mind anyway - I just love watching it for the ridiculous songs, and Terry Wogan's cynicism.

It's a political vote. Nobody votes for the songs any more.

we never win because we have not entered a song worthy of winning for years.

Also the voting is very political these days so we would be highly unlikely to win unless we had a clear walk over winning song

We won't win with troops in Iraq or Afghanistan, I agree...mostly.
Although that doesn't vouch for the many years before we had troops over there. And that of course isn't the only reason.

Even Terry Wogan who commentates on the Eurovision every year for us is well aware that the voting is based on the countries relations to one another, it's common knowledge. Past history, politics, old alliances, countries that help eachother economically etc etc.

However, don't forget we have won with Lulu and many years later, Katrina and the Waves.
So it's more than possible =] since we have won on more than one occasion.

I think two problems are:

1. The fact we have no neighbouring countries, unless you count Ireland.

2. We have a reputation throughout the world, mainly thanks to Tony Blair, but also a reputation for being sarcastic and miserable.

That was just the pressure, we should have won, I was so excited, my father was so gutted...but we drunk vodka with a cigar in order to relax lol
Oh and I will meet the All Blacks next week in Marseille as I'm the Student of the Year so...I'm so hyper !

Back to topic, England and France won't win Eurovision anymore.

In France, Eurovision is the last chance for poor singers with no money and fame hungry....so there are the results, we are always last. Last Eurovision was a disaster for both countries, one with the planes and the other one with a cat from Nothern France.
We have to accept it, we are rubbish haha

Exactly. Although even if we had first class singers and first class songs. These days politics would decide the winner which would not be the UK any time soon.......
