Default RI:SE gets axed!

According to this story RI:SE is not going to be on Channel 4 past the end of 2003.

Wonder what they'll do instead? I hope Kate gets another job presenting!

The rumour has been going round for quite a while that the ratings etc were poor and it was likely to be axed.

We shall see what it will be replaced with - if anything.

I think RISE is good myself why do they want to finish it now. Stuff the critics I say. I think Kate does a great Job, Ian Lee and her just spark off each other and it's funny to watch, especially Kate playing the dizzy blond. We all know she's got a head on her shoulders that girl. Ian Lee, giving that Ricardo off the Salon some Stick was really funny last week. I ended up taping the thing. It must start to get a cult following. It's no worse than the Big Breakfast years ago, anyway in fact I think it's better myself. Keep it on Ch4 the other alternatives are crap. The BBC is to serious in the morning and ITV's is like watching a Richard and Judy womens and gay men only lifestyle show in the morning. Rubbish and Yuck!! and double yuck!! and two many of em!

At the end of the day, if the ratings are not there, it gets the chop and rightly so.

That is the free market

Live with it and stop moaning !!

Never mind Sticks, I don't suppose you ever moan about anything do you. You old cynic! Balls to the free market. I couldn't care less about it. It's sounds like it's got you beaten. Be positive for once! I like the Reality TV coverage as well. That Kitty who does it is another great star in the making. Glad I don't watch the Salon though if they get blokes with awful feet like that to get there toes done, that was minging lol What a weirdo.

As bad as the Big Breakfast became, RI:SE has always been a somewhat pathetic replacement. The only surprise is that it has lasted as long as it has.

No. I am not sorry to see it go although I will be sorry if Kate does not land herself an alternative presenting slot. She bravely boarded an already doomed ship.

I agree there is not much of an alternative on tother channels so i think they should still perservere with replacing it with a show that is light and informative.

The old original Big Breakfast was sabataged by those trying to fix something that was not yet broke. So they of course "Broke it" in the end.

Time Channel four got back to basics. After all look what getting back to basics did for BB4

Why should there be an early morning breakfast TV show

Why not have a proper close down like we used to have and go to rolling teletext pages with music until there is something worth putting on.

Like in the good old days of TV.

Sometimes after the schools programmes we would go to the test card for the afternoon until it was time for proper programmes

BTW does anyone know who won the game of Noughts and Crosses

Sticks you are showing your age!!!

Sorry Bananarama to disagree with you, but I thought Kate was awful on Ri:se. Very wooden - she couldnt even read her script properly. Without Ian she would have fallen flat on her face more than once.

Just my humble opinion. The programme has deteriorated into a shop window for ex reality tv 'stars'. It made me (and the younger members of the family)

Well, Andi Peters is meant to be lining up a presenting job for Kate on Top of the Pops so I don't think we've seen the last of her.

I don't really watch breakfast TV but if I ever did have it on it would be RI:SE I watched.

The test card in the picture there has the most recent BBC logo on it. Do they still show it sometimes?

No problem. I know what you mean. She is a bit wooden but I have seen worse and for whatever reason i like her. So i want people out there to suffer her rather wooden/Snappy voice to please me.

As for Ian. Now that is where I do disagree. I find him absoloutly dreadful. Constantly interupting Kate part way through sentences. Dreadful presenter who i don't want to see on future programs. Sorry......

Now I will show my age. Never mind the "Test card" Why not have a 2 hour "Interlude" instead. Like the good old days when TV was run off gas

The modern equivalent of a test card would probably be the message "No signal is being recieved"

Oh yes - those hours spent watching a potter throw a pot - the memories.

My dad was a tv engineer and used to spend hours fiddling with our tv to make sure that the test card was exactly right. He always said if the test card was right then your picture would be right. All the patterns and lines had to be perfect.

More bad news for Kate. She's lost her radio show.

Quote:
Capital rings changes to broaden appeal

Owen Gibson
Monday September 22, 2003

Emma Forbes and Andi Peters, who made their name fronting BBC kids morning show Live & Kicking, are to be reunited as the presenters of Capital FM's weekend breakfast show as part of a wholesale schedule revamp by the London station.

The changes also cap a miserable week for the former Big Brother winner, Kate Lawler, who has lost two jobs in four days. Her breakfast show, RI:SE, was axed on Friday by Channel 4, and today Hit Music Sunday, the radio show she co-hosts with Peters, was ditched by Capital 95.8 as part of the revamp.

Well Kate will have a bit less difficulty climbing up the stairs at the job centre when she signs on than Nush has now. That is something for her to be thankful for at least.

Practical as ever.

Things might not be as bad as you imagine though!! As the Job centre near me has no stairs. Government policy to get everyone working

My job centre where I have signed on in the past, has its signing on section on the second floor, so one has to hobble up the stairs.

If you are unable to climb the stairs then they can cross you off the books. Yet again a great way to cut the figures of those claiming benefits.

Anyone know which job centre Nush has had to sign on at ?

There is a job centre in Bromley, near Beckenham. I remember it well
