TROUBLED BRITNEY SPEARS thinks she's gone from Pop Princess to the People's Princess.

I can reveal that the fading star has developed an unhealthy obsession with PRINCESS DIANA—and has even taken to calling herself Diana Prince.

I also hear that troubled Brit, who lost her kids to ex KEVIN FEDERLINE last week, has told pals she's convinced she could meet the same tragic end as Princess Di.

A close friend of Britney's told me: "She's utterly obsessed with Princess Diana. We're worried about it.

"She's turned one of the rooms in her house into a shrine to Di — there's photos, books and cheap souvenirs everywhere.

"Britney has told people she truly believes she and Diana share the same path, the same destiny! She's taken to surrounding herself with anything connected with the princess."

Britney's visitor's pass that, for some reason, she needs to get into her OWN home in Malibu shows new codename... Diana Prince.

I'm told Britney also wants to buy Diana's wedding dress. She has become so keen to get her hands on a copy of the dress worn by Diana when she wed PRINCE CHARLES in 1981, she's even talked about contacting the designer dressmaker ELIZABETH EMANUEL directly.

My source added: "People close to Britney think it's weird but no one dares tell her as she is so vulnerable right now. Anything could tip her over the edge.

"We're all very worried as her behaviour is getting weirder by the day."

And surprise, surprise, my snapper shot some of that "weird behaviour" this week—when Brit was out and about with no underwear on yet AGAIN.

She was pictured clambering into a car after shopping in Beverly Hills.

Britney is also reeling after one of her homes was broken into.

LA cops were called at the weekend after the singer suspected a burglar had scaled the two perimeter walls at her £6m mansion in Beverly Hills.

It happened while she was out with record producer and former lover JR Rotem.

Afterwards she asked photographers outside to show her the way to her Malibu house.

An American pop singer who has almost totally lost it and reaching for a British dead royal, it sounds so possible. I must admit that royal fans from America come to London in droves and really get into all that royalmania, doubt Britney would feel the sameif the article is true, which remains much doubt.

No her family are not in charge of her career,the outfit was horrible she should take responsiblity for it as should her designer.And we all know whay her performance wasnt good by know (I would have acted the same if somone called my kids bastards)

Her personal life on the other hand is somthing she is not responsible for 100% herself.

yeah i know there not in charge but i feel that not enough is being done to get through to her.Maybe they are already supporting her as mcuh as they can but its obviously not enough,something is lacking for her to have gotton into the state she is in wether it be professional help or support from her loved ones something is just not good enough.I also think there shoudl be some sort of law put in place to stop the media ruining lives like they are in some way responsible for ruining britneys or at least her career anyway.
