It’s the most hotly-anticipated album of the year (yep, even more hotly-anticipated than the High School Musical 2 soundtrack – and that’s high praise indeed chez heat Towers) and we don’t know about you, but we’ve been feeling very nervous about Britney’s comeback. We so want her to be amazing, but we were equally scared that she’d mess it all up. But we shouldn’t be such doubting Thomases and Thomasinas because Britney’s back – and she’s brilliant! From the moment she purrs, “It’s Britney, bitch!” on the opening bars of Gimme More, Blackout is one big, pulsating piece of pop aceness. Stand-out tracks are Piece Of Me – a biting attack on the celebrity world – plus the dreamy, sparkling Heaven On Earth and closing track Why Should I Be Sad, a heartbreaking reflection on the breakdown of her marriage to K-Fed. What’s more, we’ve heard rumblings from some of the hardest-to-please music critics around, and they’re saying it’s the best album of her career. If she can just sort out her personal life, Britney could still be the world’s biggest pop star. And that’s very good news, isn’t it?
