Default IQ

Right, well there is more thank likely already a topic on this, but I've looked through the past 5 pages and haven't found one, and can't be bothered to do the same for the other 107 pages So we can presume it's dead.

ANYWAY, I thought I'd just ask if anybody knows what their IQ is?

I say this now because I just did an IQ Test and got 144 Very happy with that

I did several and got an average, which was 131. Internet ones are very unreliable, which is why you should do a few and find the average score as they tend to vary.

None of the ones I've read so far are bad!

Doing them on Internet sites is a bit unreliable though. Not only because of the test itself, but also because chances are that when you're doing them you're not 100% focused or engaged intellectually, so it isn't always a true reflection. I've no idea what my IQ is... but people generally seem to care about it less these days. I'm not sure how to get it tested accurately, unless you're extremely brainy and join some group/society.

Don't do internet ones.
It's a proven fact that they give you about 30 more IQ points than you should have, at least! They do this because after they've given you your score they offer you a pay-subscription for further analysis. By giving you a high IQ score they make you feel good about your score and want you to want to pay for further analysis.

This isn't aimed at anyone on this forum imparticular, but I highly doubt that peoples actual IQ is what the internet says it is - bearing in mind those with an IQ of 140 are in MENSA and in the top 2% of the Worlds population.

Also, you can go to MENSA HQ and get your IQ tested reliably but you need to prove you have general high IQ beforehand.

Way to rain on my parade, Lauren

Haha only joking, I know it's waaaaay too high. But I've done quite a few in the past and I'd say my average was about 120.

I really wouldn't like to say mine...
As ive only ever taken online IQ tests, or completed the "Test The Nation" questions on television and found out that way.

On each and every one my IQ has varied so...
Id prefer to do an official IQ test in proper conditions and find out that way.

Anyone who hasn't done that could either be bragging about their high IQ which is wrong, or feeling bad about their low IQ which is also incorrect.

I have no need or desire to know my IQ. I think it would depress me, in fact I like living in the dark about my real level of intelligence. Can you imagine all the years of study I would feel I had wasted if it came in low, "oh the shame"

I did a Mensa test ages ago and I made the top 1% of the country. I can't remember the score but it ws very high. It's not the sort of thing you put on your CV mind if you actually want to get a job. People don't like employing people with high IQ's just in case they are clever than they are.

Oooh, bow down to the Red, guys. Top 1%, that's pretty good.

Out of interest - how many MENSA members are there, roughly?

Around 40,000.

But you have to remember a lot of people join for a few years and then leave when they workout they don't get much out of it other than a nice card and a magazine.
