Default Email receieved from Micheal Harris

I have received to day an email which said

Quote:
Creaters of Admin Edit would like to invite you to share your thoughts and opinions on different Big Brothers from all around the globe.

Edit is a website focusing on the television phenomenon, Big Brother from all over the world including Australia, United Kingdom and United states. Featuring all the latest news, rumours, blogs, podcasts and a forum for you to have your say - there is no other place you would want to be!

Follow the links below to either go to the website or go straight to the forum.

Edit

Edited out the links, let's not give them more publicity, yeah? James
My problem was that all our email addresses were in the TO field. When sending a mass email the procedure is to put your own email address in the TO field and the recipient's email addresses in the BCC field. That way privacy of email addresses is preserved.

Has anyone else received this email and is the site safe or legitimate?

Yeah, I got it too. It appears to have targeted some of the members who were registered within about a year of this site's start and who have their e-mail address on display. That is how they got the e-mail address - we would never give it out.

Remember in Edit Profile you can choose to hide your e-mail address ('Make e-mail address viewable by others?' - not selected is the default setting for new members). I would recommend doing this if it is currently on display so your address can't be used for spam.
