NASTY TWIST FOR JUNGLE STAR

I’M A CELEBRITY Get Me Out Of Here! is poised to get nastier for the contestants this week as producers hand three D-list stars the chance to win immunity from the first eviction.

Starting today the 11 celebrities in the jungle show, including former Hollyoaks actress Gemma Atkinson, model Janice Dickinson and ex-footballer Rodney Marsh, must battle for the golden gift of immunity from the first eviction, which takes place on Wednesday.

Today, tomorrow and Tuesday the stars must choose four members of their gang to take part in a Bush Battle designed to test their powers of endurance, intelligence and patience.

Each day’s winner escapes having to face the public’s eviction vote on Wednesday’s live show.

Last night a show spokesman said: “We said right from day one that we would be throwing lots of shocks and surprises at the celebrities to keep them on their toes and this is another twist to shake things up.”

But the stunt could backfire on producers. A show source explained: “If boring celebs win immunity then it could spell disaster for the more popular stars.

“If the dullards are taken out of the picture, it makes everyone else far more vulnerable.

“It means that celebs like Gemma Atkinson, Janice Dickinson and Christopher Biggins, whom you would expect to stay for a while, could find themselves in the frame for the axe. It is a cruel twist.”

Yesterday the pop duo Right Said Fred were relaxing with white wine spritzers and champagne at their luxury six-star Australian hotel awaiting their call to the jungle.

Producers are staying tight-lipped about what they’ve got in store for brothers Richard, 54, and Fred Fairbrass, 51, – who had hits with I’m Too Sexy and Deeply Dippy.

An insider said: “We are not sure if they will stay as bona-fide contestants or just pop in and perform a short gig to cheer up the stars.”
