Coronation Street's 'Maria' at centre of dramatic New Year rescue storyline
Coronation Street fans are in for a treat in the New Year.

As a dramatic storyline featuring Street babe Maria (Samia Smith) and heartthrob Liam Connor (Rob James Collier) promises edge of the seat action and heart-stopping rescue scenes.

Samia and Rob are at the centre of the dramatic plotline which sees the young couple escape the cobbled streets of Weatherfield for a romantic weekend trip to the Lakes.

But in tense scenes, the hugely popular 'Underworld' factory boss slips and falls down a mountainside leaving girlfriend Maria distraught.

But hairdresser Maria soon gets a grip, and runs off to get help for her man, returning with an RAF search and rescue squad.

And soon after Rob is seen being airlifted by helicopter to safety.

The gripping scenes will be shown in the New Year.
