Default I\'m a mess. Help me before its too late.

Before I start, I am not fat. I am actually very slim. As a child I used to like chocolate and eat every so often. Now all I can think about is chocolate and I think I'm going mad. I am eating about 6 bars a day at the moment (sometimes more) all I can think about is chocolate. I don't eat if for the hunger, just the taste. I constantly need it. Sometimes I will go so mad without it I just have to go and buy some more. I try and stop myself but I can't. Today I had to break into some christmas chocolate my mum had hidden away. I feel a
so guilty. Help me. ( this isn't a joke, though it might sound weird).
I need to check into rehab or something. It's like outta control.

Well, I was feeling exactly the same when I was obese so I truly understand you.
I guess you have to talk about it to someone because actually, you will ask more and more, that's what happened with me. And more, my grandfather was a chocolate maker so you can imagine how complicated it was to resist.
You can't stop alone because it's an addiction: people say "I'm a chocolate addict" but they don't know about what they are talking about but actually this is more complicated.

Talk to someone, it's not the end of the world but at the end of the day, it can become worse.

I think remy said it all lol

my mum went to a phsycaitrist when she was quitting smoking and she said the thing that was most useful was to pick a color and assosiate that color with badness and what is bad about smoking, then every time she wanted a cigerette she would think of that colour and it would stop her wanting one so much

hope that makes sence lol

Okay. I'll talk about it. Thankyou. It annoys me when people say, "I'm a chocoholic" and laugh. Because they don't know how serious it can be.
Yes this is quite annoying because it's a serious matter. That was hard to get rid of that addiction. However, I still love chocolate, I eat some everyday but not much.
Don't be embarassed you know, if you want it, you will succeed. I'm an alive proof lol

I'm also very addicted to chocolate, and even putting on weight as a result. It takes stress away for me, and generally makes me feel so much better! At the moment I am trying to stop eating it so much by not buying it so much, and eating cake etc. instead - which although is unhealthy too, it's a step away from eating so much chocolate. Good luck to you, by the way - I hope you manage to sort the addiction out!

I would advise you to definitely do something about it...
You may be slim now, but the rate of becoming fat can be so slow, that you barely even notice until it's too late.

Then one day you'll look in the mirror and realise you look nothing like you used to.

Six bars of chocolate a day = 600 - 1200 calories, depending on what exactly you're eating. And sometimes you're eating more.

The recommended calory intake is 2500 a day at most, preferably 2000.

So you're taking up a large percentage of your daily intake just on chocolate, nevermind any other snacks/meals you might have.

A pint glass full of pure orange juice is roughly 200 calories, so literally every little thing adds up. Milk/fizzy drinks are much more, so even your daily drinks can make up almost half of your daily calories.

If you can't stop eating chocolate then switch to fairtrade chocolate, like Divine or the Co-Op variety and at least you are helping people in the third world get better lives with out the indignity of having to rely on handouts.

I love fairtrade chocolate when I can get it.

On a general point, there is supposed to be a chemical in chocolate that is also released into the body, when people make love hence the reason why it is sooo popular

What you do not say is are you going for milk chocolate or plain chocolate?

If possible, switch to Plain, so you should get more of a hit without the fat content, so much.

Another idea is to by a tub of cocoa powder, if you get it from the Co-Op you can get fairtrade again, or possibly Cocoa Direct, and take teaspoons of the stuff, to keep the fat content down.
