Default Rotten explains Lockerbie tragedy caused his jungle walk-out

Johnny Rotten has revealed he missed the Pan Am flight which blew up over Lockerbie after his wife took too long packing.

The couple were booked on Flight 103 which exploded over the Scottish town in December 1988 and claimed the lives of 259 passengers and 11 people on the ground.

In an interview with the Scottish Sunday Mirror, the Sex Pistols frontman - real name John Lydon - said: "Nora and I should have been dead.

"We only missed the flight because Nora hadn't packed in time. We had a big row and then took the next flight out. The minute we realised what happened, we just looked at each other and almost collapsed."

Lydon said the tragedy was responsible for his recent walk-out from the hit ITV show I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!

He knew his wife was flying out to Australia but claimed the programme team refused to tell him if she had arrived safely.

Lydon described the decision as "appalling" and left the reality show, which was eventually won by former Atomic Kitten Kerry McFadden.

Abdelbaset Ali Mohammed Al Megrahi, a former Libyan intelligence agent, was found guilty of the Lockerbie bombing.

He was jailed for life in 2001 following a special trial at Camp Zeist in the Netherlands.

Last November Megrahi was told he must spend at least 27 years in jail before he can be considered for release
